About the role:

We are looking for motivated Data Science Enthusiasts with highly Analytical mindsets and interested in working as a Data Science intern this Summer. Our Data Science team transforms massive datasets into insights that power decisions across eBay. We combine analytics, machine learning, and experimentation to shape products and create value for millions of users worldwide.

What you will bring:

• Insightful. Be able to sample, examine and visualize data to gain an overall understanding.

• Inventive. Have the ability to do a lot with a little. Aggregate information from various places and establish relationships with key partners to get the data you need.

• Tech Savvy. Master your tools, and continue to expand your systems knowledge through formal or informal research and training.

We need:

• Strong Analytical/Data science skills to dive into data and identify root causes.

• Able to build Models (analytics & machine learning) to segment users  on the platform.

• Able to apply statistical, machine learning & deep analytical techniques to build solutions to solve complex problems.

• SQL expertise. Proficiency in SQL and Python is required. R, Java, and/or other programming languages are a bonus.

• NoSQL Tools. Have familiarity with at least one NoSQL tool; Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Pig, H2O, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field (graduating in 2028)

• 0–3 years of relevant work experience.

• Strong skills in SQL and Python; knowledge of R, Java, or similar a plus.

• Familiarity with NoSQL tools (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Spark, H2O).

• Experience with descriptive and inferential statistics; A/B testing knowledge preferred.

• Strong communication skills with ability to present insights clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with building prototype models.

• Exposure to site experimentation (A/B testing).

• Creative problem-solver with product-oriented thinking.

• Ability to manage and curate datasets in both traditional and non-traditional formats.
