Your responsibilities

Core responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain fit-for-purpose portfolio test strategies and test plans across platforms, programs, and delivery streams, ensuring they address inherent delivery, technology, operational, and regulatory risks.

  • Lead and support test planning and execution across portfolio capabilities, including integration platforms, data platforms, APIs, enterprise systems, and cross-platform dependencies.

  • Oversee specialist testing disciplines across the portfolio, including non-functional testing, security testing, automated regression, performance assurance, and alignment with DevSecOps practices.

  • Facilitate metrics and data-driven reporting on software quality, delivery readiness, defect trends, automation coverage, environment stability, and adherence to agreed test strategies.

  • Help senior stakeholders interpret quality metrics and measures, providing clear recommendations and articulating risks, trade-offs, and delivery impacts based on evidence.

  • Continually monitor, report, and manage new or changing risks that may impact portfolio test strategy, execution, release readiness, or operational resilience.

  • Contribute to ASX Quality Engineering and Testing capability practice metrics and reporting, measuring alignment to enterprise standards and the effectiveness of continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Build and continually improve a mature, contemporary portfolio test capability by uplifting automation, service virtualization, test data, regression coverage, and quality engineering practices.

  • Communicate effectively with Application Support Managers, Project Managers, Engineering Managers, Delivery Managers, BA Managers, Development Leads, Test Managers, Product Owners, and Business Operations representatives.

  • Lead diverse teams to high performance by setting clear expectations, building capability, encouraging ownership, and fostering collaboration across technology and business stakeholders.

Your experience and qualifications

Skills Required:

  • Test Planning and Execution – Plans and drives testing activities across all stages and iterations of portfolio product, system, and service development, including integration platforms, data platforms, APIs, enterprise systems, and cross-platform delivery dependencies.

  • Testing Leadership & Guidance – Provides authoritative advice and guidance on test planning and execution, adapting appropriate testing methods, automated tools, and techniques to solve complex testing and tooling challenges.

  • Standards, Risk & Quality Assurance – Measures and monitors adherence to testing standards, assesses risks, and takes preventative action to protect delivery quality, platform resilience, and release readiness.

  • Continuous Improvement – Identifies improvements and contributes to organizational policies, standards, and guidelines for testing, quality engineering, automation, and Integration Platform assurance practices.

  • Automation & Engineering Practices – Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends, and refactors moderately complex programs or scripts, applying agreed standards and tools to achieve well-engineered outcomes.

  • Delivery Monitoring & Issue Resolution – Monitors and reports on testing progress, identifies issues related to software development and Integration Platform delivery activities, and proposes practical solutions to resolve them.

  • Review & Collaboration – Collaborates in reviews of work with engineers, test managers, product owners, delivery leads, and support teams to improve quality outcomes and strengthen shared accountability.

  • Methods & Tools Adoption – Provides advice, guidance, and expertise to promote adoption of testing methods and tools, ensuring adherence to agreed policies, standards, and quality engineering practices.

  • People Leadership – Forms, maintains, and leads workgroups and individuals to achieve organisational and portfolio objectives, promoting collaboration, accountability, and high performance across multiple delivery teams.

  • Objective Setting & Delegation – Determines and delegates objectives and task responsibilities to individuals or teams, including people management responsibilities where appropriate.

  • Performance & Capability Management – Sets quality, performance, and capability targets in line with organizational goals, monitors performance and working relationships, and provides effective feedback to address individual issues.

  • Team Development – Encourages individual development of skills and capabilities aligned to team and personal goals, adjusting workload, targets, and team capacity to support growth and sustainable delivery.

  • Organizational People Processes – Plays an active role in formal organizational processes such as recruitment, reward, promotion, and disciplinary procedures.

  • Resourcing & Demand Management – Plans and manages the acquisition and deployment of testing resources to meet Integration Platform delivery priorities, demand, and ongoing operational needs.

  • Resourcing Processes & Compliance – Defines and manages resourcing processes and tools, advises on available options, customizes resourcing approaches, and ensures adherence to standards, statutory or external regulations, and codes of practice.

  • External Engagement – Engages with external parties in support of Integration Platform test resourcing plans, specialist capability needs, tooling support, and delivery outcomes.

  • Resourcing Improvement – Measures the effectiveness of resourcing processes and implements improvements to strengthen capacity planning, capability coverage, and delivery responsiveness.

  • Stakeholder Engagement – Identifies the communication and relationship needs of stakeholder groups and translates stakeholder engagement strategies into specific activities and deliverables.

  • Stakeholder Communication – Facilitates open communication and discussion between stakeholders, acting as a trusted point of contact for Integration Platform testing, risks, readiness, and quality outcomes.

  • Engagement Strategy & Feedback – Develops, maintains, and works to stakeholder engagement strategies and plans, providing informed feedback to assess and promote understanding.

  • Decision Support & Information Sharing – Facilitates business decision-making processes by capturing and disseminating technical and business information relevant to Integration Platform quality, delivery, and operational readiness.

Must Have

  • Minimum of 15+ years’ experience in quality engineering and test management across large, complex, and regulated technology portfolios, preferably within financial services.

  • Proven experience defining and leading end-to-end test strategies, test planning, governance, and execution across multiple platforms, programs, and delivery streams.

  • Strong expertise in test delivery management, automation uplift, defect governance, release readiness assessment, and quality reporting across waterfall, agile, and DevSecOps delivery models.

  • Demonstrated capability in establishing and maturing portfolio-level test governance, standards, metrics, risk management, and continuous improvement practices.

  • Solid understanding of modern engineering practices, cloud platforms, data platforms, integration technologies, CI/CD pipelines, test automation, and non-functional testing disciplines.

  • Experience leading test teams, managing capability uplift, and influencing senior stakeholders across multiple Lines of Business, technology groups, and delivery partners.

  • Comfortable presenting portfolio quality insights, risks, recommendations, and delivery confidence to senior executives and contributing to strategic decision-making.

Nice to have

  • Experience implementing AI-based test automation solutions for Integration Platforms, including intelligent test case generation, self-healing automation, automated regression optimisation, and risk-based test selection.

  • Hands-on experience applying AI-assisted automation to Confluent Kafka and integration technologies, including event-driven testing, message validation, schema compatibility, data flow assurance, API testing, and end-to-end integration regression.

  • Awareness of latest industry innovations in test automation, including generative AI, agentic testing, model-based testing, synthetic test data generation, service virtualisation, contract testing, and CI/CD-integrated quality gates.

  • Passionate about driving innovation in quality engineering by adopting modern automation frameworks, AI-enabled tooling, observability-led testing, and continuous improvement practices to uplift Integration Platform test maturity.
