Description

Under the supervision of the Executive Director of Administration & Financial Services participant will be assigned to rotational assignments with Human Resources, Finance, Information Technology, and External and Regulatory Affairs office. Each assignment will be a hands-on experience that will provide participant with an opportunity to enhance and grow their skillset and develop an understanding of the different aspects of the operations of a regional environmental regulatory agency.  

The term of this internship will be for an academic year (September through May). Each rotational assignment will expose the participant to special projects and operational programs that will enhance their understanding of the entirety of operational and regulatory programs that encompass the EAA. Provides support on internal operations matters, including but not limited to finance, human resources, regulatory affairs, and the General Manager’s office. Assist with organizational and development planning. Provides general administration assistance and support for executive meetings. Interfaces with other departments and units to ensure maximum customer support. Interfaces with groups on issues which may include employee relations, compensation, recruiting, payroll, purchase orders, information technology. Gather, collect, record and analyze data for departments. Compile and generate reports and create presentations. Provides research and recommends solutions for enhanced efficiency. Assist with project management responsibilities. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Must be currently enrolled as a student in a college or university with a minimum of 60 hours of college coursework and   a minimum 2.5 GPA. Relevant college coursework in Business Administration, Public Relations. Excellent knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation; ability to compose letters and memoranda with high accuracy and attention to detail. Working knowledge of word processing. Ability to perform data entry with high accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency with use of Microsoft Office suite of applications. Possess strong communication skills as well as problem solving ability. Possess excellent customer service skills and ability to interact with all levels of customers and staff. Analytical ability is required in order to gather and summarize data for reports, find solutions to various administrative problems and prioritize work. Possess high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Knowledge of office management procedures; proper telephone etiquette. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment and responsibility. Ability to operate standard office equipment.

Job performance may require listening, seeing, sitting, talking; occasional reaching, grasping, lifting, handling, pulling or pushing, balancing and carrying of items such as boxes of materials, books, etc. with weights not exceeding 25 pounds; limited walking, standing, stooping, and bending; some irregular hours and long workdays  and moderate levels of stress.  Job is performed primarily in an office environment with infrequent trips to other offices and limited exposure to weather conditions.
