Healthcare Agency Housekeeper

Interviews will take place the weeks of August 31, 2026 and September 8, 2026.

Offers will be made the week of September 14, 2026.

Reflecting our commitment to attracting and retaining top talent, candidates selected for this classification are hired at the highest step 5, at the base pay of $52,104.00 annually within the salary range.

Future Salary Increases:

** June 2027 – 6.74% increase to base pay (2.9% Across-the- Board + 3.84% Market Adjustment)

Hourly Rates and Premiums

The Health and Human Services Agency is looking for qualified applicants for Healthcare Agency Housekeeper to independently perform housekeeping services within assigned area(s) of a hospital and/or other healthcare facility where patients may be present.

Immediate vacancies are at the Edgemoor Distinct Part-Skilled Nursing Facility, 655 Park Center Drive, Santee, CA; however, the eligible list established from this recruitment may be used by other departments.

The Ideal Candidate will:

Have the ability to communicate effectively
Be willing to work holidays, weekends, and rotating shifts
Be able to work in areas with potential exposure to caustic chemicals
Be able to work in areas with potential exposure to contagious diseases
Be able to work around occasionally violent and hostile people or patients with mental illness.

Hiring Process and Timeline

The timeline for this recruitment is outlined below.

Job Offer and Background Process begins: Shortly after the interviews. Note: Current County employees may be excluded fromadditionalbackground screening.
Pre-employment Medical Screening: Approximately 3 days following successful background investigation results.
Anticipated Start Date: Start date will be based upon successful completion of medical screening or other mutually agreed upon date.

Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) months of verifiable paid housekeeping and/or custodial experience in a hospital, health care facility, or commercial or business setting.

Condition of Employment

As part of the County of San Diego’s pre-employment process, prospective candidates will undergo a background check (including fingerprinting) and a pre-employment medical screening prior to beginning County employment. Additional types of background investigations may be conducted based on the job-related activities of the position. Current County employees may be excluded from this process.

Evaluation:

The names of qualified applicants will be placed on a six (6) month employment list based upon scores received during the evaluation of information contained in their employment application and supplemental questionnaire.

Candidates will be given an oral comprehension test at time of interview and a background investigation prior to appointment.
