About the Hiring Group
RTI’s Center for Health Economics, Methods, and Evidence Synthesis has an opening for a Public Health Research Analyst. The position has a broad focus with a particular emphasis on coordinating and assisting on evidence synthesis projects including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, health technology assessments, and other types of evidence tasks. You will function as an integral part of a team supporting research and analytic activities and project coordination. The role includes opportunities to collaborate with senior research staff while developing an in-depth understanding of critical public health methods.
This position may be based at RTI’s headquarters in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, or remotely within the United States. Remote work is subject to RTI approval and may not be available in all U.S. locations.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities will vary but may include any of the following:
- Coordinate health research project activities including scheduling team meetings, taking meeting notes on client meetings, developing action items, and assisting in the set-up and monitoring of new projects within RTI’s systems.
- Contribute to the use of rigorous methods for conducting systematic reviews, consistent with current standards for literature searching, screening, data extraction, and qualitative and quantitative synthesis.
- Contribute to other evidence synthesis products and tasks including scoping reviews, environmental scans etc.
- Conduct literature searches and manage references within ENDNOTE.
- Coordinate and conduct research portfolio analysis including the management and qualitative coding of large databases of research.
- Development of code books to categorize and characterize research information.
- Explore and develop automation processes for the management and extraction of metadata, citations, scientific data and qualitative information from publications and policy documents.
- Manage quality control processes for projects/tasks to ensure delivery of high-quality work products.
- Support the development of research products (i.e., reports, journal manuscripts, presentations, guidance documents, memos) in collaboration with the client and RTI project team.
What You'll Need
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant discipline (e.g., health economics, public health, information/library science, health policy or a related health sciences field).
- Experience conducting or supporting literature reviews such as literature searches, reviewing research publications, or summarizing scientific or technical information.
- Experience organizing, tracking, or managing research data, publications, references, or other project information.
- Bachelor's degree-level analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills that demonstrate the ability to learn quickly (e.g., some experience conducting literature reviews and/or conducting data analysis, and/or computer programming expertise).
- Experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or other chatbots) to assist in conducting research tasks or analytical analysis.
- Familiarity with health research, health policy, public health, clinical research, or health services research.
- Excellent proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with staff in different geographic locations and with a range of education and experience levels.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and attention to detail.
- To qualify, applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and should not require, now or in the future, sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Citation management experience (e.g., prior experience using ENDNOTE or another bibliographic database)
- Experience using quantitative analysis software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, R, etc.)
