Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Insurance Risk Engineer with a strong background in healthcare risk management, specifically supporting nursing homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), rehabilitation centers, and other long-term care organizations. This individual will serve as a trusted risk management consultant, helping clients reduce exposures, improve workplace safety, and strengthen overall operational performance.

The ideal candidate understands the unique risks associated with senior care environments, including resident safety, employee injuries, regulatory compliance, infection prevention, life safety, and liability mitigation. This role combines technical risk assessment with relationship management, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with clients and becoming a valued advisor.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive on-site and virtual risk assessments for healthcare facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living communities, rehabilitation centers, and long-term care providers.
• Identify operational, safety, property, workers' compensation, professional liability, and general liability exposures.
• Develop customized risk improvement recommendations designed to reduce claims frequency and severity.
• Partner with agency leadership, producers, account management teams, and carrier loss control representatives to support new business opportunities and client retention.
• Evaluate workplace safety programs, OSHA compliance, infection control procedures, emergency preparedness plans, and resident safety initiatives.
• Review claims trends and loss data to identify opportunities for operational improvement and cost reduction.
• Assist clients with implementing accident prevention strategies, employee training programs, return-to-work initiatives, and best practices for risk mitigation.
• Stay current on healthcare regulations, CMS guidelines, OSHA standards, and evolving industry risks impacting senior care organizations.
• Prepare detailed written reports outlining findings, recommendations, and action plans.
• Build trusted relationships with healthcare executives, facility administrators, directors of nursing, and operations leaders.
• Support marketing and renewal efforts by demonstrating the agency's value-added risk management services.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial insurance risk engineering, loss control, or healthcare risk management experience.
• Significant experience working with nursing homes, assisted living facilities, skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), rehabilitation centers, or long-term care organizations.
• Strong knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, including Property, General Liability, Professional Liability, Workers' Compensation, Auto, and Umbrella.
• Experience conducting loss control surveys and developing actionable risk improvement plans.
• Understanding of OSHA regulations, CMS standards, life safety requirements, infection prevention, and workplace safety programs.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present recommendations to executive leadership.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to travel locally to client locations as needed.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and risk management reporting platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
• Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
• Certified Risk Manager (CRM)
• Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
• Registered Nurse (RN), Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or similar healthcare background transitioning into risk management
• Property & Casualty Insurance License (or ability to obtain)
