Your New Role:
The Sr. Analyst, Tax Integrations is a primarily technical role responsible for the design, development, and support of integrations between SAP S/4HANA and external tax engines such as OneSource and Vertex. This role requires strong ABAP development experience and hands-on integration development skills, with functional tax knowledge considered a nice-to-have rather than a requirement.
Your Role Accountabilities:
Integration Development
- Design, build, and maintain technical integrations between SAP S/4HANA and external tax engines such as OneSource and Vertex
- Develop and enhance ABAP programs, enhancements, and interfaces supporting tax engine integration
- Design and build API-based integrations connecting SAP S/4HANA with cloud-based platforms such as OneSource and SAP Ariba, using REST/SOAP web services, OData, and middleware tools
- Manage authentication, error handling, and monitoring for cloud-to-cloud and cloud-to-on-premise integration flows (e.g., OAuth, API keys, certificates)
- Partner with OneSource and Ariba technical teams to troubleshoot API-level integration issues, including payload errors, timeouts, and data mapping mismatches
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical integration defects, including interface failures and data mapping issues
Technical Design & Architecture Support
- Participate in technical design sessions for new tax integration requirements and enhancements
- Conduct feasibility studies and proof-of-concept development for proposed technical solutions
- Collaborate with functional tax systems analysts and architects to translate requirements into technical designs
Testing & Deployment
- Perform unit and integration testing of ABAP developments and interface changes
- Support transport management and deployment of technical changes across landscapes
- Maintain technical documentation for developed interfaces and programs
Communication & Collaboration
- Communicate technical designs, timelines, and issues clearly to functional and business stakeholders
- Collaborate with onshore resources and cross-functional teams to prioritize and deliver technical work
Qualifications & Experiences:
- 7+ years of hands-on SAP ABAP development experience
- Demonstrated integration development experience (interfaces, enhancements, BAdIs, RFC/API-based integrations, etc.)
- Must have experience integrating SAP S/4HANA with external tax engines such as OneSource, Vertex, or similar
- Hands-on experience building and supporting API-based integrations (REST/SOAP, OData) between SAP and cloud-based platforms
- Experience troubleshooting integration issues across a hybrid landscape spanning on-premise SAP and cloud-based SaaS platforms (e.g., OneSource, Ariba)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience
Not Required but preferred experience:
- Functional tax knowledge - understanding of tax postings and requirements
- Experience with SAP Ariba integration touchpoints
- Experience working in a national or global company
