The Boeing CompanyThe Safety, Security & Airworthiness organization is seeking a Safety Engineering Manager (K-Level) to join the In-Service Airplane Safety Engineering Team (ASE) team within the Product Safety & Investigations (PS&I) organization in Everett, WA.
The ASE team is responsible for leading teams tasked with evaluating potential safety issues and making recommendations for product safety decisions within the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) In-Service Safety Process supporting the Continued Operational Safety Program (COSP). The ASE team partners with BCA Program Leadership including Chief Project Engineers (CPEs), functional leaders and the FAA to identify and mitigate safety issues at program Safety Review Boards (SRB) to effectively manage risk of the in-service fleet.
In this role, you will lead a team supporting continued operational safety for the BCA 787 in-service commercial airplane fleet. Our team performs critical airplane technical contributions with high visibility across BCA. This is an opportunity to play an integral role in ensuring safe operations and design. The importance of this function can’t be over-stated as you will contribute to ensuring product safety for BCA.
Primary responsibilities:
- Manages a team of engineers and staff performing safety analysis, integration, and coordination across multiple functional teams
- Develops and maintains relationships with BCA Program, Enterprise Safety, Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Functional Team leaders as well as collaborating with regulators
- Creates and maintains a culture of open communication and diversity with focus on continuous improvement and knowledge transfer
- Promotes talent acquisition and retention within the team by ensuring career development of direct reports, promoting employee recognition, and building a team culture that improves employee satisfaction
- Manages budgets, headcounts, schedules and staffing strategies
Work Authorization:
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at Everett, WA. Some travel will be required as business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
- Candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership.”
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 5+ years of experience in an engineering role
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
- 3+ years of experience in leadership either formally or informally leading teams in a cross-functional environment
- Experience leading or supporting activities to attract, develop, and/or retain talent
- Experience in either airplane development program processes or airplane programs products and processes
- Experience in systems design and/or systems analysis and/or systems integration
- Experience assisting with safety processes in engineering
- Experience developing/applying aviation related system safety analysis methods, such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA), and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
- Experience performing system safety tasks in accordance with MIL-STD-882, SAE ARP4761, or equivalent
- Experience facilitating commercial aviation industry best practices for operations, training & safety
