What we are looking for:

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong customer service focus to work as a member of the Diagnostic Imaging team.  Working closely with other Patient Support Assistants, Sonographers, Radiologists, Porters and volunteers, you will support patient care in an environment where the focus is on quality patient care. 

 

Specifically, your duties will include:

• Working with volunteers to greet patients and escort them to the patient rooms in ultrasound
• Scanning all out-patient requisitions into the PACS systems
• Coordinating daily emergent and urgent ultrasound requests includes decision making skills and the ability to triage many different types of patient examinations
• Coordinating and organizing patient flow for all booked and add on examinations
• Organizes specimen transportation to the laboratory
• Preparing and organizing necessary packages for ultrasound guided biopsies and entering laboratory orders for specific types of biopsies
• Assisting with close observations; including monitoring patient’s comfort level while awaiting appointments and alerting medical staff if emergencies arise
• Organizing patient appointments for ultrasound examinations and responding to inquiries
• Maintaining medical and linen supplies and cleanliness of the patient rooms
• Preparing patient rooms as needed

 

What you bring to the role:

• Secondary school graduate
• Previous related experience, with preference for experience in an ambulatory care/clinic environment
• Understanding of Diagnostic Imaging procedures and Terminology, specifically Ultrasound an asset
• Completion of a recognized personal support worker certificate or health care aide program from a community college or equivalent education is an asset
• Current BCLS certification
• Previous computer experience; experience using Meditech is a definite asset
• Knowledge of universal precautions and medical terminology an asset
• Strong customer service, interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of an interprofessional team
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize workload
• Demonstrated good attendance record with the ability to maintain this same standard
• Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required

• Frequent moderate and heavy exertion (e.g. pushing stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.)
• Lifting over 60lbs

The successful candidate would be required to work 8 hour Day shift, weekdays (07:15-15:15), weekends (0730-1530) and holidays:

$28.49 - $31.30
