Part-Time Lifeguard at The Epic
Are you a water enthusiast with a passion for safety? We're on the lookout for dynamic individuals to join our team as a Lifeguard!
The Lifeguard will protect the lives of the City's patrons by sitting on the stand, scanning the water, observing patrons' activities, and enforcing pool rules and regulations. Other duties include ensuring water quality, providing customer service and answering customer questions, setting up facilities for special events, and interacting with City employees and the general public.
The Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons by maintaining constant surveillance of aquatic areas, enforcing facility rules, and responding to emergencies. This position also supports daily operations, special events, customer service, and facility readiness.
- Maintains constant and attentive surveillance of patrons in and around aquatic facilities to ensure safety at all times.
- Enforces all pool rules and regulations consistently and courteously to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Recognizes and responds quickly and effectively to all emergencies in accordance with established procedures.
- Administers first aid, CPR, and AED assistance as required.
- Provides excellent customer service by responding to patron questions, offering assistance, and communicating facility information and upcoming events.
- Performs safety orientations, administers swim tests, and fits life jackets as needed.
- Identifies and proactively addresses unsafe conditions, hazardous behaviors, or equipment concerns; reports issues to supervisors promptly.
- Completes accurate and timely incident, accident, and rescue reports.
- Participates in regular in-service training, emergency drills, and skills evaluations to maintain readiness and certifications.
- Ensures all safety and rescue equipment is present, functional, and properly maintained.
- Conducts routine facility inspections, including opening and closing duties.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of pool decks, guard stations, and surrounding areas.
- Assists with preparation for special events, including setup and breakdown of tables, chairs, and related equipment.
- Works collaboratively with other lifeguards, staff, and supervisors to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
- Education: Work requires the ability to read and understand written instructions, to understand simple processes, and the routine operation of machines. Level of knowledge equivalent to less than high school or equivalency.

- Certifications Required: Lifeguarding, CPR, First Aid *Training will be provided*
- Swim Abilities: The prerequisite swimming skills evaluation is designed to confirm that participants have the physical ability to successfully participate in the training. The evaluation includes an endurance swim; treading water using only the legs; and a timed event that involves retrieving a 10-pound submerged object, swimming it back to the exit point and exiting the water without using a ladder or steps.
