The Team
Group Risk Management “GRM” collaborates with businesses as a trusted advisor, facilitating well-informed decisions that support Nasdaq’s strategic objectives. GRM manages and continues to enhance the Enterprise Risk Management “ERM”, Internal Control, Business Continuity, Crisis Management, and Corporate Insurance frameworks and programs. These programs facilitate the identification, assessment, monitoring, and treatment and reporting of all types of risks, Nasdaq faces.
Your Role and Responsibilities
GRM is seeking a senior team member, who will serve as the Head of Risk, Market Services Division, and who will lead the Risk initiatives for the Market Services Division, specifically the North American Markets “NAM” and European Markets “EMS” Businesses. The position reports to the SVP, Chief Risk Officer, will be a member fo the GRM Leadership Team and will reside in the United States.
The Head of Risk, Market Services Division is responsible for implementing the Enterprise Risk Management framework across the NAM and EMS Businesses (and Division), collaborating with the business to identify, assess, monitor, measure and treat the risks of the business and aggregating risk information across all risk stripes to report to the NAM and EMS management and regulatory / governance boards, as appropriate.
As the Head of Risk, Market Services Division, your responsibilities will include:
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the delivery / execution of all Risk programs & initiatives across the Division, including facilitating top-down and bottom-up assessments engaging varied levels of the organization to provide insight to the risk profile of the business and ensure effective challenge and analyzing specific risks to ensure that the level of risk remains within an acceptable levelSupport the definition of Nasdaq’s risk strategy and the risk management framework as a member of the leadership team
- Establish effective risk governance for the regulated businesses / markets including, in alignment with Nasdaq’s policies and risk appetite statement
- Partner as a trusted advisor to strengthen resilience, drive operational excellence and empower innovation to serve the interests of key Business stakeholders
- Implement Nasdaq’s Enterprise Risk Management framework including programs such as Risk and Control Self Assessments, Risk Incident Capture, Key Risk Indicators and Issue & Actions
- Ensure compliance with Nasdaq’s Business Continuity and Crisis Management Policies and assist in the development of Business Continuity Plans and facilitating Crisis Management exercises
- Ensure clear accountability for risk taking and drive a risk aware culture (across Nasdaq) through our risk processes
- Pro-actively engage Internal Audit, SOX, Compliance, Information Security, Supplier Risk Management, Business Continuity and other assurance functions to support an integrated approach to risk management
Skills, Requirements, and Competencies:
- 10+ years of experience in risk management, compliance, and / or audit in the financial services industry in capital markets
- 4+ years of experience in Front or middle-office capital markets trading experience in Equities and / or Equity derivatives, can include trading compliance or risk management roles
- Understanding of regional regulations and compliance programs and ability to cultivate relationships with regional regulators, as required
- Experience implementing a risk management framework in a complex organization
- MBA or equivalent preferred
- Experience teaming with business leaders (from trading or Front Office background) and subject matter experts to review, assess, and propose solutions for specific risk issues as they are identified
- Understanding of and experience with both revenue generating business units and support functions
- Ability to cultivate relationships and collaborate with multiple stakeholders including business leaders, legal, audit, and technology
- Expert in operational risk management; familiarity with financial risk management

The base pay range for this role is $148,000 - $274,000. In addition to base salary, Nasdaq provides a generous annual bonus/commission (short-term incentive), and equity (long-term incentive), comprehensive benefits, and opportunity for growth.
