Description
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Review and thoroughly understand project plans, specifications, finish schedules, and all related documents to determine the scope of work and materials required.
• Send plans to responsible staff to perform the take offs. Work closely and cooperatively with the take-off personnel to ensure scope and requirements are clear.
• Verify accuracy and completeness of plan take offs done by the take-off staff
• Sends RFIs to customer prior to due date
• Obtains prices from vendors per the specifications. Strategize with the Purchasing Manager and supervisor to get the best pricing. Offer VE material to customers as required.
• Be strategic and plan in advance in collaboration with the Purchasing Manager and supervisor when specifying material and/or offering VE material. Seek the best option for the project at the best price.
• Prepare accurate estimates and bids based on the take-offs and meet bid due dates. Include alternate bids as requested by customer. Ensure completeness of bids and proper budgeting for all activities and materials are included in the bid with no exception.
• Follow up with customers, ensure bids are received and questions are addressed, and additional information is provided timely if required by customer. Request feedback if bid was not awarded.
• Once a bid is awarded, collaborate with the customer’s team (e.g., project managers, engineers, designer) to gather necessary information and provide material submittals.
• Once the submittals are approved and schedules are set, work closely with the Operations Manager and warehouse staff to order material and coordinate and schedule deliveries. Coordinate closely with all involved to time events accordingly without burdening staff.
• Order necessary supplies, tools, and equipment. Obtain a PO and follow the proper procedures when ordering. Ensure all items are budgeted for.
• Attend preconstruction meetings. Schedule the appropriate crews for the job.
• Plan all phases of the construction lifecycle from initiation to completion. Excel at organization, time-management, problem-solving, and budgeting.
• Demonstrate ability to take initiative, problem solve, and use internal resources wisely
• Extensive experience with customer service and ongoing customer relationships
• Computer proficient; ability to work in Word, Excel, and internal databases effectively, with solid math skills
• 3 years experience in estimating, bidding and project management, preferably in the flooring industry or a closely related field.
- Must have knowledge of Carpet, resilient flooring, tile, and stone.
• Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Must have the ability to deal with deadlines and create several estimates simultaneously while overseeing and managing ongoing flooring installations.
• OSHA 10 hour certification (preferably 30 hour certification)
