Position Title: Philanthropy Manager

Position Objective
The Philanthropy Manager advances Catholic Charities’ mission by securing philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and community partners across the Kansas City region. This position manages a portfolio of donors, cultivates new relationships, and drives sponsorship and revenue growth through annual campaigns, special events, and targeted fundraising initiatives. The Philanthropy Manager also oversees donor data integrity and CRM management to ensure accurate reporting, stewardship, and strategic donor engagement.

Although the Philanthropy Manager will need to work nights and weekends on occasion as needed for events, they would often have 3 day weekends!
The pay for this position is $70k to $75k, depending upon experience. This position is based out of the Kansas City office but will require occasional travel to our St. Joseph and Rockhurst locations.
Essential Duties
Strategic Leadership & Revenue Planning:
- Collaborate on annual fundraising strategy and revenue goal setting to drive sustained philanthropic growth.
- Analyze donor trends, portfolio performance, and pipeline strength to inform strategy and improve results.
- Participate in cross-department fundraising initiatives to align program impact, marketing, and donor engagement.
Donor Portfolio Management & Solicitation:
- Manage and steward a portfolio of donors to secure annual, major, and monthly gifts.
- Develop and implement monthly giver strategy to increase donor engagement and retention.
- Solicit sponsorships, major gifts, and in-kind contributions through personal outreach and tailored proposals.
- Partner with the VP of Development, CEO, Board, and volunteer leaders to cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
Program Oversight & Systems Management:
- Serve as CRM and fundraising software lead, ensuring accurate data management, reporting, segmentation, and documentation.
- Oversee and expand the tax credit giving program and acknowledgment processes, ensuring compliance and strong donor communication.
Events & Community Engagement:
- Support donor engagement and fundraising events while serving as an ambassador for Catholic Charities to strengthen community partnerships and promote the mission.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Deep knowledge of the Kansas City philanthropic community, with preferred familiarity of Catholic donors and supporters of human service initiatives.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and cultivate meaningful donor relationships.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical ability to interpret donor data, identify trends, and inform fundraising decisions.
- High level of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence when engaging donors, volunteers, and community partners.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and fundraising software, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to and alignment with the mission and vision of Catholic Charities of Kansas City–St. Joseph.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, marketing, nonprofit management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible fundraising, development, sales, or relationship-management experience, including direct management of a portfolio.
- Demonstrated success cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding individual and corporate donors, including securing major gifts, sponsorships, and in-kind contributions.
- Established knowledge of the Kansas City philanthropic community with the ability to build relationships with donors, business leaders, foundations, and community stakeholders.
- Proficiency using donor relationship management (CRM) systems and fundraising databases.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for donor visits and community meetings.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer.
