Description
What You'll Do:
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of students during after-school hours.
- Lead engaging games, crafts, enrichment activities, and outdoor play.
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment for all participants.
- Assist students with homework and academic support as needed.
- Communicate professionally with parents regarding daily updates and concerns.
- Work collaboratively with fellow counselors and program leadership to provide a high-quality after-school experience.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe activity space while following all licensing and safety requirements.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children in a school, camp, childcare, recreation, or after-school setting preferred.
- DCF 40-Hour Introductory Child Care Training is required (or must be completed prior to employment, as applicable).
- Experience supporting children with diverse learning, behavioral, developmental, or physical needs is highly preferred.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Positive attitude, patience, reliability, and professionalism.
- Ability to lead engaging activities and build positive relationships with children.
- CPR and First Aid Certification are a plus.
- Coursework in Education, Child Development, Recreation, Psychology, or a related field is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to bend, kneel, squat, sit, stand, and walk throughout campus.
- Comfortable working both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to set up and break down activity spaces, including moving tables, chairs, and equipment.
