Description

 Main Responsibilities

  • Manage Accident & Emergency (A&E) services at KPJ Bandar Maharani Specialist Hospital according to hospital policies, procedures, and clinical guidelines. 
  • Attend to all emergency cases promptly and provide immediate treatment, especially in life-threatening situations. Perform resuscitation and stabilisation of patients before admission or further investigation. Perform basic emergency procedures (e.g.: intravenous line, catheter insertion, suturing) when required. Order and review appropriate investigations and document all findings properly. 
  • Manage referral cases, including KPJ staff and relatives seeking medical attention. 
  • Assess, investigate, and manage referral and non-referral cases appropriately. Refer patients to relevant consultants when consultants care or admission is required. Respect patients wish at all times 
  • Certify death on arrival cases and consult consultants when necessary.  Lodge police reports for suspected criminal or unnatural deaths or injuries. 
  • Assess and manage walk-in (cold) cases, provide treatment, and refer to consultant when needed. 
  • Ensure clear communication with patients, relatives and consultants regarding management and charges. Assists to informed consultation fees, admission deposits, and obtain patient approval before referral.  
  • Respond promptly to Code Blue, ward emergencies and other emergency alert. Inform attending consultants and document important discussions and decisions.  
  • Perform ward procedures within competency when required. Certify deaths for ward patients after office hours or during public holidays when requested.  
  • Attend hospital courses, medical training, and continuously update medical knowledge. Conduct internal and external medical training such as regular CME talk. 
  • Provide medical treatment, ward calls, and support during patient transfers when necessary.  
  • Conduct medical screenings for corporate clients and walk-in patients.  
  • Prepare blood/plasma requests and medical reports for insurance or other purposes.  
  • Comply with Occupational Safety & Health (OSH), ISO standards, patient safety goals, 5S activities, and hospital policies.
