Class 4This position is responsible for assisting the Supervisor in coordination of the daily responsibilities of the department by insuring the Supervisor’s instructions are communicated to the team members and carried out timely and correctly. This position will also monitor all equipment to insure it is working properly and notify the supervisor of any needed maintenance while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.

Hiring Requirements:
This position is slated for team members who are currently working at this facility or complex. Priority consideration will be provided to these applicants first. If local Team Members are not selected, Team Members from other locations or external applicants will then be reviewed for consideration.
Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level = 6 attendance points and 6 months in current area unless the TM is promoting, then less than 6 months in current area is allowable.
Starting Wage: $21.20 per hour - Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.
Schedule: Monday thru Friday – apx 5:00am to 1:00pm or until work is completed - May include holidays and weekends as needed. Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:
Plan and coordinate the activities of the sanitation crew. The sanitation lead is responsible for ensuring that all areas of the hatchery are cleaned and sanitized. They are accountable for ensuring that the following duties are completed correctly; washing egg buggies and flats, the cleaning and sanitation of all hatchery equipment, and perform quarterly audits. Other duties may be assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead positions must currently have and consistently maintain 4 attendance points or less.
- Plan, coordinate and supervise the activities of the sanitation crew and ensure a safe working environment, correcting any unsafe conditions and acts. (30%)
- Assist with unloading deliveries, stock delivered product(s), keep inventory of sanitation department products/items, and print labels. (5%)
- Ensure the cleaning and sanitation of all hatchery equipment including (but not limited to) egg flats, buggies, offal room, setters, hatchers, processing area, tray-wash room, pull room, hallways, buggy wash, and the loading docks, and check all chemicals weekly. (40%)
- Collect and complete all paperwork along with any daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Update the sanitation monitoring report on a weekly basis. Daily computer entry. (10%)
- Ensure that all supplies needed for sanitation and cleaning are available, operate a high pressure and regular water hose, fog all designated areas, maintain boot wash and hand sanitizers, and maintain a clean an organized work area. (5%)
- Assisting in training new team members, ensuring all team members are following proper biosecurity, animal welfare and safety procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work area. (10%)
Other Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities:
- These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. Such as: paper chick boxes; paint; put up freight; set up machines; prep hatcher room for embrex; pull eggs to be embrexed; maintaining a clean and organized work area. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor/manager.
Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:
- The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. The Company provides appropriate clothing and footwear. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must be able to lift/move 50 lbs. and may be required to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds at times and must be able to push/pull 500-1500 lbs. Overhead lifting is required. Required to work on wet and slippery surfaces each day. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand majority of shift (concrete floor); walk; sit; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; bend over; climb/ladder usage; talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
- Tools and Equipment: High Pressure hose and computer
- Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
- Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs will be used as required. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
- Chemicals Commonly Used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Lysol, bleach, etc. Formaldehyde is in use at the facility, disinfectant, lubricants and virocid. Industrial soap (chlorinated foam).
- Safety: Team Member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, Lock out Tag out, and Personal Protective equipment. Team Member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
- Mask policy will be in accordance with any local, state, or federal requirements but will be provided to any Team Member wishing to wear a mask.
