As part of its strategic growth and operational transformation in Asia, the company is seeking an experienced Operations Director to lead and optimize its manufacturing operations in Haimen, China.
About the role
The Operations Director/General Manager will be responsible for all plant operations, driving operational excellence across manufacturing, supply chain, quality, engineering, maintenance, EHS, and continuous improvement functions. This position requires a hands-on and commercially minded operations leader with strong experience managing complex industrial manufacturing environments, ideally within metals, specialty materials, industrial products, or process manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Facilities Management: Lead overall plant operations to ensure achievement of safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and financial targets.
Operations Management: Drive operational excellence initiatives focused on efficiency improvement, cost reduction, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement.
Strategy Development: Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with regional and global business objectives.
Quality & Compliance: Guarantee that all manufactured equipment and alloy processing meet rigorous ISO 9001 standards and regulatory requirements.
Supply Chain & Inventory: Oversee global sourcing, raw material logistics, and inventory management to prevent bottlenecks and shortages.
Budgeting & Financials: Plan and manage departmental budgets, analyze operational KPIs, and build financial models to support data-driven decision-making.
Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and mentor cross-functional teams (including engineering, technical, and production staff) to foster a culture of safety, innovation, and continuous improvement'
Stakeholder management: Manage relationships with key external stakeholders including suppliers, regulatory authorities, and strategic partners.
Key Requirements
Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related disciplines; advanced degree is an advantage.
Experience: 10+ years of progressive management experience in heavy industry, mining and aggregates, or metallurgical manufacturing.
Language: Fluent in English and Chinese
Leadership: Proven leadership experience in senior operations or plant management roles within industrial manufacturing environments.
Skills: Strong proficiency in LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, operational excellence, and continuous improvement methodologies, supply chain logistics, budget administration, and equipment commissioning.
Global Perspective: Experience overseeing multi-facility operations or international trade compliance is highly beneficial
