Role Overview
We are a pioneering, licensed Malaysian digital bank in our foundational phase of operations, scaling rapidly across retail and non-retail segments with a mandate to serve Malaysia's unserved and underserved communities. In this role, you will serve as the primary in-house legal counsel to our Products team on the structuring and launch of financing, credit, and investment products.
Responsibilities:
Advise on legal concepts relevant to financing, credit, investment, and wealth products, including standard and discretionary loans and investment mandates.
Review, draft, and negotiate product-related legal documentation, including facility agreements, security instruments, investment contracts, terms and conditions, and customer-facing disclosure.
Develop and maintain a library of product agreement templates and legal playbooks aligned to the bank's product suite.
Support cross-functional teams in preparing product risk assessments, pre-launch legal checklists, product approval documentation, and relevant internal policy and SOPs.
Provide legal QA support for internal and regulatory audits, including gap identification and remediation advice.
Advise on applicable banking, securities, and financial services laws and regulations, and proactively flag regulatory developments affecting the product pipeline.
Engage and manage external counsel where specialist or contentious legal support is required.
Collaborate and work with other legal team members on other general assignments, projects, or general contract/documents review (outside of loans and wealth product scope).
Requirements
Admitted to the Malaysian Bar or equivalent professional qualification.
Minimum 5 years PQE with experience in banking and securities law practice areas (whether gained in private practice, in-house, or both).
Demonstrable experience advising on financial products, lending practices, or investment and wealth products.
Working knowledge of applicable banking and securities legislation and regulatory frameworks in a tech environment.
Ability to translate complex legal and regulatory requirements into actionable product guidance for non-legal stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple product workstreams.
