Head of Start Well Commissioning (Children’s)
London - Hybrid (1-2 days onsite per week)
6-month contract (potential to extend)
£500–£600 per day

An exciting opportunity for an experienced senior leader within a dynamic commissioning team jointly funded by the council & ICB
You will lead a programme focused on integrated commissioning for children and families, driving innovation, transformation, and prevention across health and local government services.
Your key responsibilities as Head of Start Well Commissioning:
- Provide strategic leadership in developing integrated pathways and commissioning strategies.
- Champion co-production and ensure the voice of residents is central to service design.
- Translate national, regional, and local policy into effective local service transformation.
- Lead on prevention and early intervention initiatives across health and council services.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders across the council, health system, and partnership
- Manage programme budgets, ensuring value for money and financial sustainability.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Use data and analytics to inform decision-making and develop compelling business cases.
- Plan and deliver complex programmes using recognised project management methodologies.
Your required experience as Head of Start Well Commissioning:
- Proven experience operating at Head of Service level in Children’s Commissioning
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Expertise in policy translation, service transformation, and programme delivery.
- Financial acumen and experience managing significant budgets.
- High-level analytical skills and experience using data to drive change.
- Knowledge of project management tools and techniques (e.g., PRINCE2, MSP).Full references for the past 5 years and an Enhanced DBS
- Social care qualification desirable but not essential.
