Job Summary

Under Supervision, performs skilled mechanical duties at Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. May set up and operate lathes, milling machines, shapers, drill presses and other machine tools in the performance of machine work to close tolerances. May be assigned as needed to support decon, housekeeping, painting, calibration, and other duties as assigned by the Company.

Responsibilities

• Establish and follow shop best practices for safety, organization, and tool management. 
• Operate independently as an experienced machinist, fabricator, and hands-on builder.
• Take ownership of complex part fabrication critical to Comanche Peak/Fleet support.
• Support emergent time critical part fabrication including off normal hours as required.
• Set up, program, operate, and maintain advanced machining equipment.
• Operate multi-axis CNC mills and CNC lathes.
• Operate laser cutters.
• Develop, edit, and optimize CNC programs using G-code or CAM software.
• Fabricate precision components to meet engineering specifications.
• Perform detailed quality inspections using CMMs, gauges, and other metrology tools.
• Verify parts meet tight GD&T and engineering requirements.
• Collaborate with engineers and leadership on urgent fabrication priorities.
• Design, build, and implement fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing aids.
• Perform preventive maintenance on shop equipment.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and support machine uptime.
• Document repairs and coordinate outside service when needed.

Requirements:

o   High School Diploma or GED equivalent

o   Maintenance type work experience and/or Welding, Machining experience

o   Rigging/Mobile Crane Operating experience

o   Familiarity with reading mechanical drawings and vendor technical manuals

** Candidates must take and pass the Power Plant Maintenance Position Selection Process Test (MASS test)

Physical demands and working conditions:

o   Must be able to climb stairs, work above ground, lift loads up to 50 pounds

o   Must be able to be a radiation worker

o   Must meet requirements of NRC psychological testing regulations

o   Must satisfactorily complete Plant Access and Radiation Safety training, including respirator qualifications and maintain unescorted access

o   Occasional irregular hours, overtime and shift work
