Sr Network Engineer, Routing & Switching

What success looks like in this role:

We are looking for a Sr Network Engineer with strong hands-on routing and switching experience and solid production experience with Cisco Meraki cloud-managed networking. The role focuses on configuring, supporting, and optimizing LAN and WAN infrastructure across multiple sites, working closely with senior architects and the wider network team to deliver stable, secure, and well-documented environments.

This is a hands-on operational and project delivery role. You will own day-to-day changes, incident and problem resolution, and site deployments, and you will be expected to contribute to design decisions and standards within your area. Network automation skills are a strong plus, as we are actively working to reduce manual effort and standardize configuration across the estate. Fluency in both Spanish and English is required, as you will work with local teams in USA and with global stakeholders and vendors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Routing & Switching Operations: Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot switching and routing infrastructure, including VLANs, trunking, STP, port channels, HSRP/VRRP, OSPF and BGP, DHCP, and QoS.
• Meraki Administration: Manage Cisco Meraki networks through the dashboard, including switch and security appliance configuration, SD-WAN policies, firmware management, templates, and network monitoring and alerting.
• Automation & Standardization: Contribute to automation initiatives such as scripted configuration deployment, bulk changes via the Meraki API, automated reporting, and configuration compliance checks.
• Incident & Problem Management: Resolve incidents and service requests within agreed SLAs, lead root cause analysis on recurring and complex issues, and drive permanent fixes through the problem management process.
• Change & Standards: Plan and execute changes following the established change management process, including rollback planning, and help define and document configuration standards and templates.
• Site Deployments: Deliver new site rollouts and refresh projects, including equipment staging, configuration, installation coordination, and post-deployment validation.
• Monitoring & Documentation: Maintain network monitoring tools and dashboards, keep network diagrams and configuration records up to date, and contribute to knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures.
• Collaboration & Mentoring: Work alongside architects, field services, and vendor support teams, escalating complex issues with clear context, and support less experienced engineers on the team.

You will be successful in this role if you have:

• 8 to 12 years of hands-on experience in enterprise networking, with routing and switching as the primary focus.
• Practical experience administering Cisco Meraki environments in production, including multi-site deployments.
• Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex Layer 2 and Layer 3 issues independently in a live production environment.
• Comfort working in a structured operational environment with defined processes and SLAs.

Network Automation (Strong Plus):

• Hands-on experience with network automation is considered a strong differentiator for this role.
• Scripting ability in Python, or experience with Ansible for network configuration management.
• Experience consuming REST APIs, particularly the Cisco Meraki Dashboard API, for bulk configuration, reporting, or auditing.
• Certifications such as Cisco DevNet Associate are viewed favorably.

Certifications:

• CCNP Enterprise is strongly preferred.
• Cisco Meraki certification (CMNA or ECMS) is a strong plus.

Language Requirements (Required):

• Fluent Spanish and fluent English, both written and spoken, sufficient to lead technical calls, manage vendor cases, and document work in English.

Networking Expertise:

• Strong command of TCP/IP, subnetting, Layer 2 and Layer 3 design fundamentals, and structured troubleshooting methodology across the OSI model.
• Hands-on configuration experience with Cisco Catalyst switches and Meraki MS, MX, and MR product lines.
• Working experience with dynamic routing protocol design and implementation, including route filtering, redistribution, and path selection.
• Solid understanding of SD-WAN concepts and practical experience with Meraki Auto VPN or an equivalent solution.
• Familiarity with wireless networking concepts (802.11 standards, SSID design, RF fundamentals) and with firewall and VPN technologies.
• Practical exposure to network security controls, including ACLs, segmentation, NAC, and 802.1X.

Technical Competencies:

• Experience with network monitoring and ticketing platforms such as SolarWinds and ServiceNow.
• Familiarity with ITIL service management concepts, particularly incident, change, and problem management.

Other Requirements:

• Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation and to support scheduled maintenance windows outside regular business hours.
• Clear written and verbal communication, with attention to detail in documentation.
• Technical degree or equivalent practical experience in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field.
