Data Management Engineer Trainee

Join the AIDE (Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering) group within the R&D Data Science team and contribute to the digital transformation of drug discovery and development.

As a Data Management Engineer Trainee, you will work at the intersection of data, technology and scientific research, helping to organize and manage critical laboratory data that supports cutting-edge R&D projects. Your work will contribute to building high-quality data foundations that enable advanced analytics, data-driven decision making and future Artificial Intelligence applications.

What will you do?

As part of a multidisciplinary team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of data management and engineering activities, including:

Data Model Development
Design and support the implementation of data models, schemas and ingestion pipelines within our R&D LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), ensuring the accurate integration and organization of scientific data.

Data Processing & Integration
Contribute to the maintenance, optimization and monitoring of data processing pipelines for different types of laboratory data, with a particular focus on chemical and biochemical assay information. You will help ensure that data is accurately captured, processed and made available for analysis and visualization.

Collaboration with Scientific Teams
Work closely with researchers from Chemistry and Biology laboratories, as well as IT teams, to understand data requirements, improve data workflows and support data management initiatives across R&D.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline.
• Strong programming skills, preferably in Python.
• Knowledge of SQL databases (Oracle SQL is a plus).
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is highly valued.
• Interest in data management, data engineering and scientific data analysis.
• Experience with data management platforms or LIMS systems will be considered a plus.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Comfortable working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative environment.
• Fluent English; advanced proficiency is highly desirable.
