Role Purpose 

The Senior Associate, Sustainability will drive and support core workstreams including sustainability reporting, communications, community and legacy initiatives, and project management.

This role supports comprehensive internal and external sustainability reporting, communications, and the ISO 20121 sustainable event management certification process. The role serves as a key central project management function for the sustainability team, maintaining project management tools and supporting cross-functional progress tracking. In addition, this role supports the design and delivery of strategic projects, including community and legacy initiatives. The position requires exceptional strategic problem-solving and structured project management abilities, expert-level PowerPoint and storytelling skills, and demonstrated experience in reporting, communications, and strategy

 

Key Responsibilities 

• Drive high-priority strategic initiatives for the team by breaking down complex, ambiguous challenges into clear project roadmaps, defining workstreams and milestones, and driving end-to-end execution
• Manage central project-planning tools and track milestones, action items, risks, and dependencies for the sustainability team
• Support LA28’s sustainability reporting in alignment with reporting requirements and international standards
• Support the ISO 20121 certification process, including coordinating audits
• Support the development of sustainability communications, including executive presentations
• Support the design and day-to-day execution of high-impact community resilience and legacy initiatives
• Design executive and stakeholder communications, creating narrative-driven Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and briefing deck 

Required Competencies 

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as sustainability, environmental studies, or business; or 4 years of equivalent experience in sustainability, reporting, or program management. 
• 4+ years of experience in consulting, corporate strategy, sustainability reporting, or communications. 
• Strong strategic problem-solving, project management, and organizational skills, with experience structuring ambiguity and managing multi-stakeholder workflows in a complex, evolving environment. 
• High proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, building presentations and reports for executive communication. 
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaborate across teams. 

Valued Experience 

• Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks such as GRI or IOC Essentials. 
• Experience with sustainable event management or ISO 20121 certification. 
• Background supporting impact initiatives, corporate social responsibility, or NGO partnerships. 
• Comfort using Gemini or other generative AI tools.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions 

• Available to work onsite in our Downtown Los Angeles-based office. 
• The majority of work will be conducted in an office setting, requiring extended periods of time using computers, phones, and other office equipment. 
• The LA28 office is an open floorplan working environment; employees must be able to work efficiently in an open cubicle environment. 
• Hours of work may vary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially during peak event periods. 
• Perform other duties as required; the role will evolve over time and may include operational responsibilities during the Olympic and Paralympic Games. 
• Some travel, as needed, to external stakeholder offices, government agencies, and Games venues and facilities. 

Compensation 

The annual base salary range for this position is $73,000 – $98,000 anually. The pay scale provided is the range that LA28 reasonably expects to pay as starting base compensation for this role. All LA28 compensation remains subject to final determination based on individual candidate qualifications, experience, or other reasonable criteria consistent with LA28's operational business needs and applicable law.
