Position Summary
As Dining Room Manager, you’ll lead front-of-house operations and set the standard for exceptional dining service. You’ll oversee service flow, support daily operations, and recruit, train, and mentor your team while creating a culture of professionalism, teamwork, and genuine hospitality.
Essential Job Duties
- Uphold hospitality standards appropriate for an upscale senior living community serving 400+ residents.
- Ensure consistent, attentive, and polished service at every table.
- Handle resident and guest concerns, complaints, and special requests with professionalism and discretion.
- Maintain fine-dining service standards, including etiquette, timing, communication, and presentation.
- Foster a culture of professionalism, teamwork, accountability, and composure under pressure.
- Monitor service flow, timing between courses, and table resets.
- Assist with inventory management and ordering of front-of-house supplies.
- Recruit, train, coach, and mentor front-of-house staff, including Leads, Servers, Runners, and Hosts.
- Work closely with the culinary team and other departments to ensure a smooth dining experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or a degree in Hospitality Management preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in casual, upscale, or fine dining.
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Experience with both front-of-house and back-of-house dining operations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of dining service standards and front-of-house operations.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with residents, guests, families, coworkers, and other departments.
- Professional, personable, and service-oriented approach.
- Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
- Current ServSafe® certification required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / WORKING CONDITIONS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday and move throughout the dining areas.
- Ability to frequently bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and carry items as needed.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds independently.
- Ability to push and pull dining carts or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Ability to safely assist with table setup, service, and dining room operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced dining environment with frequent interaction with residents, guests, and team members.
- May be exposed to hot food, beverages, kitchen equipment, cleaning products, and varying temperatures.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on community dining needs.
