Responsibilities
As a Data Operations & Monitoring Associate within Oaktree's Information Solutions team, you will be responsible for the integration of data monitoring capabilities such as critical job monitoring, system performance health check, fixing critical data issues, loads and meeting data SLAs are aligned with long-term scalability, sustainability and observability. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between engineering and business operations, enabling seamless transitions from development to deployment and maintaining the quality and integrity of our data assets. You will be tasked with building robust operational processes that support the firm’s data-driven decision-making while ensuring that data operations are fully integrated into our technical environment for future growth.
Responsibilities include:
Familiar with data operations model within Oaktree’s data operational/solutions frameworks, ensuring that data workflows are up and running within schedule times, alerting job run status to downstream consumers and streamlining/automating data operations across the data products for long-term scalability and efficiency.
Collaborate with data engineering teams, business SMEs, data owners to define and implement operational processes that align with data pipeline architectures, ensuring robust and scalable data monitoring capabilities.
Develop a cohesive data operations dashboard that proactively monitors jobs and its dependences, it’s lineage and resolves quality issues, partnering with data owners, business SMEs, data stewards throughout the organization.
Serve as the primary line of defense for diagnosing data issues, performing root cause analysis, and working directly with technical teams or business stakeholders to remediate issues and develop corrective actions.
Manage the day-to-day activities of data operations, ensuring that data flows through the end-to-end pipeline efficiently and accurately, with minimal disruption to downstream users.
Collaborate with technology and governance teams to ensure upstream data issues are addressed and that validation processes are updated as necessary to ensure long-term data integrity.
Develop performance metrics and KPIs to measure the effectiveness of data operations, ensuring alignment with business goals and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
6+ years of experience in data management, data operations, and data observability capabilities.
Knowledge of the asset management industry and financial data concepts. Experience in a fast-paced, exacting data environment.
Expertise in semantic data models, modern data architecture such as Kimbal, medallion, fabric, data quality rules/ validation frameworks, and data governance processes, with the ability to integrate operational practices into engineering frameworks for long-term scalability.
Familiarity with querying tools (e.g., SQL), Python, Monitoring the job schedules, system performance health checks on daily basis, sending alerts to downstream teams for any data load delays or breaching the SLAs, diagnosing issues from job status/logs and generating data quality dashboards in Power BI or any other visualization tools.
Triaging the issues by effectively coordinating with business/data engineering development teams for permanent fixes and communicate Root Cause Analysis (RCA) across all the users
Expertise in Job monitoring Lineage tools such as Azure Monitor or open-source monitoring tools a plus

Education
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, computer science, or a related field.
