Position Summary
The Laborer I is an entry-level position responsible for performing a variety of manual labor tasks to support daily operations. This role assists with loading and unloading materials, maintaining a clean and safe work environment, operating basic hand and power tools, and supporting skilled trades personnel. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, and willing to learn.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Load, unload, move, and organize materials, tools, and equipment.
- Assist with the assembly, disassembly, and transportation of equipment or structures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
- Operate basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
- Assist skilled workers with construction, maintenance, or installation activities.
- Inspect tools and equipment before use and report any defects or safety concerns.
- Perform routine housekeeping duties at job sites and facilities.
- Work collaboratively with team members to complete assigned tasks efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Travel: 90%
- Must be able to travel. Typical schedule is 3 weeks on 7 days off.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous labor or construction experience is preferred but not required.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Strong work ethic with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds regularly and heavier loads with assistance.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and reach for extended periods.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Manual dexterity to safely operate hand and power tools.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Work Environment
- Outdoor and indoor construction or industrial job sites.
- Exposure to dust, noise, vibration, and varying weather conditions.
- May require overtime, weekends, or travel depending on project needs.
Preferred Skills
- Basic knowledge of construction or industrial work practices.
- Experience using hand and power tools.
- Forklift, aerial lift, or equipment certifications are a plus.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
