The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Arizona State University provides comprehensive scholarships and holistic support to young people from across the African continent who are committed to giving back to their communities. Under the administrative direction of the Assistant Director, the Management Intern will support the overall administration and operations of the Scholars Program, with particular responsibility for supporting application and selection processes, applicant communication, and related administrative coordination. This position will also contribute to broader programmatic priorities, projects, and day-to-day operational needs, working collaboratively with the Scholars Program team to help ensure the effective implementation and overall success of the program.

Position Salary Range:

  • $21 per hour

Essential Duties:

  • Supports the administration and coordination of Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program activities, projects, communications, and day-to-day operational needs.

  • Provides administrative and coordination support throughout the scholarship application cycle, including application launch, applicant tracking, responding to applicant inquiries via Salesforce, scheduling interviews, coordinating applicant communications, and supporting related follow-up and administrative processes.

  • Supports the planning and delivery of Scholar programming and program initiatives, including contributing to event planning, assisting with the development of program content and materials, supporting or co-facilitating in-person and virtual activities, and collecting and organizing participant feedback to inform future programming.

  • Collaborates with Scholars Program staff on special projects, process improvements, and emerging program priorities, providing administrative and coordination support for assigned project activities and deliverables.

  • Performs other duties and provides administrative and programmatic support as assigned in alignment with the needs and priorities of the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with the Mastercard Foundation and experience working in their education contexts.

  • Experience in customer service standards, methods and practices.

  • Working knowledge of basic program coordination and project management principles.

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to maintain accurate records, manage multiple priorities, and complete assigned activities within established timelines.

  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to provide responsive and professional communication to audiences.

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace applications, including Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Drive, to support communication, tracking, documentation, and program operations.

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, faculty, and other program stakeholders.

  • Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential or sensitive information, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, collaborate effectively, and independently complete assigned responsibilities with appropriate guidance.

Working Environment:

  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate-controlled office setting with an expectation of regular in-person work.

  • Position will support in-person and virtual program activities, meetings, and events and may require occasional schedule flexibility based on program needs.

  • Regular use of a desktop or laptop computer and virtual communication and collaboration platforms is required.

  • Position may require extended periods of sitting and occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and lifting of materials weighing up to 20 pounds.
