JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for identifying training needs, designing and tailoring instructor – led and online trainings, facilitating trainings and How We Work Operations Orientation, evaluating training effectiveness, and managing training content/materials. Works with internal instructors to ensure consistent and high-quality delivery of core trainings.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Develop and/or revise instructor-led and online trainings, including but not limited to:
  1. Analyze data to assess curriculum, learning and instructional needs,
  2. Collaborate with instructors and subject matter experts to develop course content,
  3. Develop and edit instructor manuals, presentation materials, handouts, infographics, and other relevant teaching tools,
  4. Use of e-learning authoring tools, as well as knowledge of multimedia learning best practices and graphic design to create online content.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training classes, including the learning management system (LMS) training and other courses such as Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), First Aid, Cultural Competence and Communication, Non-violent Crisis Intervention (CPI), and Characteristics and Needs of Individuals Served, Ethical Decision Making in Catholic Community Service, and How We Work Operations Orientation.
  • Create the block calendar that provides for the quarterly and annual training needs of Catholic Charities employees.
  • Coordinate and record the evaluation of efficacy of professional development programs (questionnaires, surveys) and uses the information to guide further planning for workshops and PD programs.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of professional development’s department protocols.
  • Analyzes data to facilitate the development of best practices and determine instructional needs.
  • Train new instructors in Professional Development administration practices, content presentation and facilitation, and learning technologies.
  • Lead or co-lead the “Community of Learning” internal instructors cohort. 
  1. Provide updates on Adult Learning Theory Best Practices
  2. Writing performance objectives
  3. Virtual engagement activities
  4. Technology integration
  • When assigned, respond to LMS help desk requests and document learner course completion within the LMS.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Professional Development to determine current and anticipated PD needs.
  • Lead internal marketing of PD training and events.
  • When assigned, serve as the technical assistant for internal and/or external training sessions.
  • Backup:
  1. Provide support for professional development instructors including class reminders, space/materials preparation, and paperwork collection.
  2. Oversee professional development materials, instructor manuals, equipment, office supplies and training spaces, including room arrangements.
  3. Serve as professional development registrar, including customer service (LMS helpdesk) and LMS system management (class loading, registration, and class closing based on class sign-in sheets). Maintain training documentation.
  4. Schedule training sessions, coordinate list of instructors, and oversee LMS registration procedures, along with ensuring that the facility is properly set up and PD staff members are notified of assignments, issues or concerns.
  5. Communicate with instructors about training and paperwork requirements.
  6. Create compliance reports to include but not limited to: CPR/FA, CPI, Bloodborne Pathogens, and New Employee Program (Site)Orientation Checklist.
  7. Maintain department electronic and/or physical records ensuring they are created, filed and organized.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a learning and development, curriculum development, instructional design, or human capital work environment, ideally in a social services or behavioral health setting.
  • Experience with a learning management system preferred.
  • Experience teaching or public speaking preferred.

SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, & PowerPoint. Ability to operate job-related equipment including the use of basic computer programs and systems to effectively carry out the duties of the position.
  • Excellent organization, communication, interpersonal, collaboration, and relationship skills.
