Maybell Quantum is establishing its first operations facility in Singapore, and we are seeking a General Manager, Singapore to stand it up from the ground floor. This is a builder’s role: you will secure and commission the site, recruit and lead the local team, establish regional supply chain and vendor relationships, and put in place the systems, controls, and licenses required to operate. You will serve as the senior Maybell leader in Singapore and the regional counterpart to our US VP of Operations, translating our global production, quality, and supply chain standards into a functioning Singapore operation. Success in this role means taking the site from an empty facility to a qualified, producing, fully staffed operation.

 

What You’ll Do

As the General Manager, Singapore, you will own the full standup and ongoing performance of the site across four workstreams:

Facility Standup & Site Operations

• Stand Up the Site: Own site selection, lease negotiation, build-out, and commissioning of the facility, including cleanroom, lab, and assembly space required for quantum hardware production.
• Establish Operations: Put in place the day-to-day production, EHS, facilities, and IT infrastructure needed to operate safely and reliably from day one.
• Transfer Capability: Partner with the VP of Operations to transfer manufacturing, test, and quality processes from our home site to Singapore, qualifying the local line against global standards.
• Own the P&L: Build and manage the site budget and capital plan, and report site performance against cost, schedule, output, and quality targets.

Team Building & Leadership

• Hire the Team: Build the Singapore organization from the first hire onward across production, quality, supply chain, facilities, and administration.
• Set the Culture: Establish a high-performance, safety-first culture that reflects Maybell’s standards while working effectively in the local market.
• Develop Leaders: Recruit and develop the site leadership bench, creating clear ownership for each function as the team scales.
• Partner Globally: Serve as the primary interface between the Singapore team and headquarters functions, ensuring the site is well represented and well supported.

Regional Supply Chain & Partnerships

• Build the Supplier Base: Identify, qualify, and onboard regional suppliers, contract manufacturers, and service providers, in coordination with our global sourcing strategy.
• Localize Logistics: Establish inbound and outbound logistics, customs and trade compliance processes, warehousing, and inventory management for the region.
• Represent Maybell Locally: Build relationships with government agencies, economic development bodies, universities, and industry partners in Singapore and the broader APAC region.

Compliance, Governance & Risk

• Establish the Entity: Work with legal, finance, and HR to stand up the local entity, employment practices, and statutory compliance, including all required licenses and permits.
• Ensure Compliance: Implement export control, trade compliance, quality (e.g., ISO 9001), and EHS requirements applicable to the site, with clear local ownership.
• Manage Risk: Identify site, supply, and regulatory risks early and put mitigation plans in place to protect business continuity as the operation scales.

 

Who You Are

Required:

• 15+ years of operations or general management experience in hardware, deep tech, semiconductor, or complex electronics manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Demonstrated experience standing up a new site, plant, or country operation from scratch, including facility build-out, hiring, and process qualification.
• Deep working knowledge of the Singapore and broader APAC operating environment, including local hiring practices, regulatory requirements, and the regional supplier base.
• Direct, hands-on experience across production, quality, and supply chain functions, with the ability to lead all three before dedicated leaders are in place.
• P&L and capital budget ownership, with a track record of delivering site programs on cost and on schedule.
• A strong technical foundation gained through engineering, manufacturing, or operations roles, with the depth to make technical trade-offs on a production line.
• Outstanding leadership and communication skills, with a proven ability to build teams from zero and influence cross-functional partners across time zones.

Preferred:

• Experience in quantum computing, scientific instrumentation, cryogenics, or semiconductor manufacturing.
• Experience establishing a legal entity, licenses, and statutory compliance in Singapore, including engagement with EDB or comparable agencies.
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (e.g., ISO 9001), export controls, and trade compliance in a regulated hardware environment.
• Previous experience leading operations in a high-growth, venture-backed startup environment.
