The Strategic Pursuit Centre (SPC) at BDO is seeking a Manager to support strategic opportunities across public and private sector markets as well as lead a small team of pursuit professionals. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Pursuit Centre, this replacement role combines people leadership, pursuit management excellence, operational oversight, and process improvement. The successful candidate will oversee complex pursuits, coach and develop team members, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and partner with stakeholders across the firm to enhance pursuit effectiveness, improve service delivery, and support BDO's growth strategy.
Strategic Pursuit Leadership
- Lead the end-to-end pursuit management process for complex, strategic, and high-value opportunities.
- Provide RFx analysis, pursuit strategy, proposal planning, compliance reviews, and submission oversight.
- Partner with service line leaders, partners, and subject matter experts to develop compelling and differentiated proposals.
- Support oral presentations, pursuit debriefs, and lessons learned activities to continuously improve outcomes.
- Ensure all deliverables meet BDO quality standards and align with firm branding, messaging, and pursuit best practices.
People Leadership & Resource Management
- Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of 2-4 pursuit professionals.
- Conduct performance management, career development discussions, and ongoing coaching to support employee growth and engagement.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture aligned with BDO values.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve pursuit processes, workflows, tools, templates, and service delivery models.
- Champion the adoption of technology, automation, AI-enabled tools, and leading practices that improve efficiency and proposal quality.
- Participate in strategic planning initiatives that enhance SPC service offerings, operating models, and team effectiveness.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Serve as a trusted advisor to pursuit teams and business stakeholders across the firm.
- Collaborate closely with Marketing, Business Development, Design, and Industry teams to deliver an exceptional internal client experience.
- Build strong relationships across the organization to increase awareness, adoption, and effectiveness of SPC services.

Your experience and education
- University degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, English, or a related field.
- APMP, PMP, or related project management certification is considered an asset.
- 7+ years of progressive experience managing pursuits, proposals, or business development programs within professional services, consulting, technology, or related industries.
- Experience supporting both public and private sector pursuits is required.
- Previous experience leading, coaching, or managing teams preferred.
Technical & Leadership Skills
- Expertise in pursuit management, proposal development, and RFx processes.
- Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated experience driving process improvement and operational efficiencies.
- Ability to analyze performance metrics and identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Exceptional business writing, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, SharePoint, collaboration tools, and emerging AI-enabled productivity solutions.

The expected range of compensation for this role is $93,000 to $141,000 annually
