Summer 2027 Intern - Cybersecurity

An internship with our company is a great opportunity to build your skillset and explore your career interests. Our summer student internship is a 10 to 14 week program that starts in mid May and ends in August. During your internship, you'll work on impactful projects that make a difference at our company, with our customers, and in our communities.

You'll also gain exposure to different areas of our business and have numerous opportunities for networking and coaching.

Interns may be eligible for a one-time hiring bonus to assist with housing costs depending upon proximity to our company office location.

Compensation Minimum: $25.00
Compensation Maximum: $39.00

As a Cybersecurity intern, you will work alongside other cloud/platform security engineers on the team. You will learn how to deploy security controls in the cloud, lead projects to correct existing misconfigurations, improve automation/documentation, and work on metrics/reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of our business, corporate culture and structure to support your work.
• Contribute creative ideas and strategic approaches in response to changing situations.
• Assist with the implementation and validation of cloud security controls across cloud platforms to support secure application and infrastructure deployments.
• Contribute to the development of security metrics, dashboards, and documentation to enhance visibility into the organization's cloud security posture.
• Partner with cybersecurity engineers to identify, remediate, and document cloud security misconfigurations through automation, reporting, and continuous improvement efforts.

Requirements

• Must be in student status at an accredited 4-year college or university during the internship, graduating August 2027 or later.

• Must be pursuing a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD.

• Major/program must align with internship role.

• An ideal candidate will have development skills (Python) with the ability to quickly learn CloudFormation and Terraform.

• To ensure a strong start, all employees participate in our New Employee Orientation during their first week.  This experience is held in person at our Madison, WI Headquarters or one of our AmFam core locations to help you connect with our mission, meet key team members and build relationships that support your growth.  At times, sessions may be delivered virtually based on scheduling and availability.
