The Production Support Work Study position provides students with hands-on experience in live esports broadcast production. Working onsite and reporting directly to the Esports Director, this role will support ArtU Esports streams while learning key production areas including producing, game observation, stream operation, and broadcast setup. The student will gain experience using industry standard broadcast tools, collaborating with broadcast talent, and developing the technical and organizational skills used in live esports production. 

Responsibilities:

• Assist with planning and producing social media content during weeks without scheduled broadcasts or events.
• Help develop esports focused content ideas, recurring segments, player features, and other short form content for ArtU Esports.
• Support the technical setup and recording of interviews, gameplay content, and other social media productions.
• Collaborate with Broadcast Talent and the Video Editor / Photographer to take content from concept through recording and delivery.
• Learn the fundamentals of esports broadcast production through hands on experience during program streams and events.
• Assist with different areas of a live broadcast, including production, game observation, stream operation, and general production support.
• Develop experience using OBS and other broadcast tools, including scenes, overlays, audio, graphics, and stream monitoring.
• Practice game observation by following live gameplay and learning how to identify and capture important moments for the broadcast.
• Assist with pre stream preparation, including checking game feeds, audio, graphics, capture devices, and other production equipment.
• Support the Producer and broadcast team with transitions, graphics, game feeds, and other tasks during live productions.
• Learn basic troubleshooting techniques for common streaming, audio, and capture issues.
• Participate in production rehearsals and receive feedback to develop technical and live production skills.
• Assist with the program’s Twitch broadcasts and archived stream content as needed.
  

Qualifications:

• Interest in esports broadcasting, livestreaming, content creation, or live production.
• Interest in learning roles such as Producer, Game Observer, and Broadcast Operator.
• Familiarity with OBS Studio, Streamlabs, Twitch, or similar platforms is helpful, but not required.
• Willingness to learn new production software, equipment, and workflows.
• Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with other students and program staff.
• Able to stay focused and organized during live events.
• Receptive to instruction, feedback, and continued learning.
• Reliable and able to attend scheduled broadcasts, including some evenings or weekends.
• Able to work effectively in both independent and team based learning environments.
• Interest in games and esports.
• Previous broadcast production experience is not required. Training and guidance will be provided.

Pay Rate : 

$19.61 per hour

Length of Employment: The student’s starting term at the Academy of Art University through graduation.
