Role and Responsibilities
OVERVIEW & RESPONSIBILITIES
Building on corporate strategy, the Sustainability Senior Manager will accelerate the scale and impact of Samsung Electronics’ ESG programs in the US. The Sr. Manager will collaborate with internal teams to manage compliance and reporting, as well as strengthen sustainability governance and business integration in support of evolving customer expectations and in alignment with corporate initiatives. A key responsibility of the role will be to mobilize the organization to sustainably advance SEA business objectives with emphasis on key impact areas such as product energy efficiency, responsible materials, sustainable operations, product stewardship and values engagement. The Sr. Manager will support communications, sales and operations teams and will measure and report on SEA’s performance against its goals.
Compliance & Reporting
- Responsible for coordination across SEA subsidiaries for compliance with California climate disclosure regulations and all other ESG disclosure requirements pertaining to the U.S. region
- Own Task Force with internal stakeholders to ensure reporting is verified and assured, working with SEA Legal and Finance and cross-divisional leads
- Supporting process for emissions verification and assurance
Governance and Engagement
- Recommend KPI dashboard and support regular reporting cadence for SEA sustainability performance reviews.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives in support of strategic objectives and facilitate visibility across SEA.
- Support events, trainings and programs that engage and educate on sustainability priorities.
Communications and Reputation
- Support review of marketing and PR sustainability claims, corporate ESG reporting, and updates to US Environmental Toolkit.
- Refresh award and recognition strategy. Prepare and submit award applications in partnership with internal stakeholders.
- Work with s.com and compliance teams to audit online presence and ensure sustainability content is accurate and up to date.
Sales Support
- Support response to sustainability related RFPs and customer inquiries. Track and respond to these accurately and efficiently.
- Refresh trainings for SEA Sales and service teams. Develop collateral for customer interactions.
- Benchmark key customer sustainability priorities and identify partnership opportunities with major accounts.
Operations
- Support fulfillment of NA Green Power commitment. Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline and reduce cost of GPP procurement.
- Support facilities’ efforts to develop and maintain ENERGY STAR POY levels of performance.
- Benchmark best practices of SEA vendors. Develop proposal for green procurement recognition program
Skills and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’ Degree with 10+ years of relevant experience
- Senior-level, progressive experience developing and implementing ESG programs, with a strong focus on business integration.
- Exercises a high degree of independent judgment in recognizing problems and developing solutions. Strong business and financial acumen.
- A track record of executing assignments accurately and efficiently, with minimal supervision. Strong ability to analyze and interpret data.
- Experience working with and influencing company leadership on projects that involve new policies and programs.
- Prior experience in implementing an integrated ESG program; especially goal setting, performance metrics/KPI reporting, internal management systems, etc.
- A sophisticated and deep understanding of contemporary ESG issues and stakeholder perspectives.
- Ability to anticipate trends and issues that impact the Company’s business strategy and reputation.
