$41.10 - $61.65MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advocates and facilitates direct care nursing involvement in discussions and decisions important to practicing nurses.
- Mentors and supports regional/enterprise and site council chairs to lead effective, engaged councils according to Midwest region bylaws. Provides assistance to site chairs and removes barriers to successful structural empowerment, insuring site chair accountability and follow-through.
- Represents the perspective of practicing nurses in nursing executive and other settings. Advocates and acts as representative, based on perspectives gained from Shared Governance Council leaders and membership.
- Communicates effectively and works collaboratively with nurses and leaders across the region and enterprise to develop solutions aligned with the mission, vision, and strategies of the enterprise. Insures that nurses maintain authority over decisions affecting nursing practice.
- Strengthens shared governance and the pipeline of nurse leaders by guiding leadership growth and development among Site Chairs and other Shared Governance leaders.
- Implements strategies to address key components of Midwest region charter as they relate to communication both with the council and to all nurses, engagement at all levels in shared governance, coordination among region councils, nurse wellbeing, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and nurse recruitment/retention.
- Role models two-way communication by soliciting input on beneficial offerings and modifications to current agendas to support meeting and council effectiveness and members’ leadership development and growth.
- Builds tools and resources needed to operationalize enterprise, region, and site shared governance councils with ongoing evaluation of needs and modifications.
- Provides ongoing evaluation and feedback to Midwest region Shared Governance Chairs and Site Shared Governance Chairs. Takes appropriate action when changes are needed. Supports shared governance activities and initiatives to improve processes at the Site level.
- Demonstrates effective, inclusive communication, feedback, and conflict-resolution skills. Promotes and fosters interdepartmental collaboration among team members to operationalize Midwest region nursing stratigic initiatives.
- Participates in professional activities which contribute to personal professional development and the development of others. Seeks opportunities to be taught, coached, and mentored.
License/Registration/Certification: Nurse, Registered (RN)
Level of Education: Bachlors in Nursing
Years of Experience: Minimum of 1 Year Site Shared Governance Experience, must have served as a Site Council Chair and attended Midwest region Shared Governance Meetings

Demonstrates the ability to advocate for all of nursing at a Midwest region level. Excellent communication skills, in all forms. Shows ability to listen, provide positive and negative feedback, and openess to new ideas. Utilized systems-thinking to be able to recognize situational changes that require unanticipated interventions, and responds to situations with professionlism, timeliness, and flexibility. Continually assess council needs and gaps to appropriately develop agendas and touchpoints to address opportunities. Demonstrates effective relationship building with the ability to develop rapport and maintain positive, professional relationships. Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively with others. Excellent organization, prioritization, and problem-solving skills. Demonstrates coordination, collaboration, delegation and team-building skills within Midwest region Chair team as well as Council team. Proficient computer skills. Demonstrates the ability to speak publicly with confidence and competence while partnering with public relations for communication (video/presentations/newsletter stories/media).
