The Singapore Centre for 3D Printing (SC3DP) is a research centre conducting fundamental and applied research in all aspects related to additive manufacturing. Our vision is to be the world leader in 3D Printing and a wellspring of knowledge, delivering state of the art and innovative solutions to the industry. SC3DP is at the forefront of developing advanced technologies and high-impact research in areas such biomedical, construction, aerospace, marine and offshore. It is one of the very few research centres globally with multi-sector 3D printing expertise. SC3DP’s research achievements, high-level industry collaboration, comprehensive facilities and resources have positioned it as a leading hub for 3D printing research and innovation globally.

The Research Scientist is expected to help the principal investigator to carry out a research project on laser additive manufacturing in collaboration with an industrial partner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the project with the defined milestones and deliverables.

  • Carry out hands-on experiments to meet deliverables and KPIs.

  • Write and prepare communications content and interface with the industry and funding agency.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor qualification degree in mechanical, materials or manufacturing engineering or related field

  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in engineering research / technical hands-on experience in additive manufacturing or related field

  • Proficiency in experimental skills in microstructural characterization, including metallograph and EBSD.

  • Proficiency in experimental skills in mechanical testing, such as hardness testing.

  • Demonstrated experience in laser directed energy deposition additive manufacturing.

  • Knowledge of the relationship between microstructures and mechanical properties of metallic materials.

  • Good written and oral communication skills
