Role Definition:

The Strategic Buyer for Corporate Services - Marketing Communications owns the sourcing strategy and supplier ecosystem for all marketing, advertising, media, creative, and brand-related spend. The role partners closely with Marketing, Brand, Digital, and Communications teams to deliver value, protect brand quality, and drive commercial rigor in a traditionally relationship-heavy, fast-moving category. The incumbent balances cost efficiency with creative and brand impact, acting as the commercial bridge between marketing stakeholders and the supplier base.

Role Deliverables

1. Category Strategy & Marketing Partnership

  • Support and execute category strategies for marketing communications aligned to brand and business objectives.
  • Build strong relationships with business to embed procurement early in the planning cycle.
  • Balance brand quality, speed-to-market, and cost efficiency — recognizing marketing's value-driven (not just cost-driven) priorities.

2. Agency & Media Sourcing

  • Lead agency selection and reviews (creative, media, digital, PR) via structured RFPs and pitch processes.
  • Benchmark and negotiate agency fees, retainers, FTE rate cards, scope of work (SOW), and commission structures.
  • Ability to execute the end-to-end Strategic sourcing activities in selecting the fit for purpose vendor

3. Commercial Negotiation & Value Delivery

  • Negotiate rate cards, production costs, licensing/usage rights, and performance-based models.
  • Deliver cost savings and cost avoidance while safeguarding creative output and brand integrity.
  • Implement decoupling, in-housing, and production optimization strategies where value-accretive

4. Supplier & Agency Relationship Management

  • Manage agency/supplier performance through scorecards, QBRs, and SLAs tied to marketing KPIs.
  • Foster innovation partnerships with key agencies and Service providers.
  • Resolve scope creep, over-servicing, and delivery escalations assertively.

5. Contract, Compliance & Risk Management

  • Draft and manage MSAs, SOWs, retainers, and IP/usage-rights clauses.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy, advertising standards, and brand/legal requirements.
  • Manage risks around intellectual property, media fraud, and agency concentration.

6. Analytics, Reporting & Governance

  • Track marketing spend, savings, and agency performance via dashboards (Power BI/Excel).
  • Provide executive-ready summaries on category performance, savings pipeline, and market trends.
  • Drive spend visibility and governance across a highly fragmented supplier base.
