Description
Introduction
The Mechanical Development (MDEV) cluster at ASML designs, builds, and tests mechanical systems that are integrated into our advanced lithography machines. The team ensures that these systems are manufacturable, transportable, and serviceable throughout the product lifecycle. To improve engineering efficiency, the department develops automation tools that support simulation workflows and enable faster, more informed design decisions. During this internship, you will contribute to enhancing an internal simulation application by developing an automated reporting solution that helps engineers save time and improve consistency across projects.
Your assignment
As an intern, you will contribute to the enhancement of an internal simulation application that automates the engineering of flexure mechanisms. The application streamlines design generation, simulation, optimization, and validation activities. Your assignment is to develop a Java-based report generator that creates a complete engineering story, from requirements to final design, in a standardized PowerPoint format. Your main responsibilities will be:
Design and develop a Java-based automated report generator
Extract simulation data, images, and results from different stages of the engineering workflow
Programmatically generate PowerPoint slides containing figures, tables, visualizations, and standardized content
Integrate the reporting functionality into the existing simulation workflow while ensuring maintainability and reusability
Validate the generated reports, document the solution, and support future reuse of the functionality
This is a bachelor/master internship (non-thesis) for minimum 5 months, minimum 32 hours per week (including 2 days on-site). The start date of this internship is flexible, but preferably as soon as possible.
Your profile
To be suitable for the internship, you:
Are pursuing a bachelor's degree or master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Have experience with Java and a good understanding of software development principles and programming patterns
Are analytical and have a strong attention to detail
Communicate effectively and enjoy collaborating in a team environment
Are proactive and enjoy identifying and solving technical challenges
Other requirements you need to meet:
- You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship, and you are at least 18 years old at the start of the internship;
- If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement);
- You attach your cover letter with a clear motivation on why you are interested in this internship assignment in particular;
- You need to be located in the Netherlands to be perform your internship. In case you are currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your application shows the willingness to relocate.
