Job Summary
The Strategic Sourcing Specialist, reporting to the Manager of Strategic Sourcing & Contracts, operates with an enterprise mindset and a global outlook. This role partners across business units and geographies to leverage the organization’s size and scale, delivering sustainable value through innovative supply chain strategies. The Strategic Sourcing Specialist is responsible for optimizing supplier relationships, mitigating risk, and leading strategic sourcing initiatives for high-impact categories.Position Overview
Your responsibilities may include:
- Collaborate with global and regional supply chain teams to consolidate spend, reduce fragmentation, and maximize leverage across the organization.
- Develop and implement innovative category and supply chain strategies that align with business objectives, leveraging market intelligence, supplier capabilities, and internal demand forecasts to deliver long-term value for COP.
- Lead cross-functional sourcing teams to ensure alignment across business units including technical, commercial, and operational stakeholders.
- Own and manage strategic sourcing initiatives for high-risk, high-value categories (e.g., stimulation services, oil company tubular goods (OCTG), Production Chemicals) and strategic global suppliers.
- Drive enterprise-level supplier negotiations, ensuring optimal commercial terms, risk mitigation, and long-term value creation.
- Support supplier innovation and development, fostering strategic partnerships that contribute to operational excellence.
- Monitor and manage supplier performance using structured KPIs, scorecards, and continuous improvement plans.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical sourcing standards.

Basic Requirements:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Supply chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 10 or more years of supply chain sourcing experience and/or a relevant engineering background with a focus on strategic categories and supplier management in upstream oil & gas or industrial sectors.
- Intermediate level of proficiency in sourcing tools and analytics platforms.
- Proven ability to operate in a global, matrixed organization, with strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
- Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills, and risk management capabilities.
Preferred Requirements:
- Advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPSM, SCMP).
- Energy industry experience.
- Experience managing global supplier relationships and contracts across multiple regions.
- Familiarity with upstream categories such as rigs, tubulars, well services, and production chemicals.
- Track record of delivering enterprise-wide value through strategic sourcing initiatives.
