- Leads technical accounting on all derivative items, including technical accounting research, preparation of technical memos, determination of financial reporting and disclosure impacts, and internal management reporting.
- Works with Derivatives accounting, SOX, Trading, Strategy and Derivative organizations to understand all new derivative trading activity and develop new processes and controls to ensure accurate accounting and reporting of derivative activity.
- Responsible for assessing impact and implementing any newly issued accounting pronouncements relating to derivatives.
- Leads all learning and development initiatives related to derivative accounting under ASC 815, leveraging deep technical knowledge to develop and lead training programs, as necessary, for both Controllership and other organizations across the Company.
- Counsels and advises internal partners on consistent and appropriate application of financial accounting policies and procedures related to derivatives and trading activity.
- Provides accounting advice and summarized management reporting to leadership to assist them in understanding and assessing derivative impacts on the Company
- Leads cross-functional projects related to derivative accounting initiatives.
- May assist management with team oversight and review work of others. Trains, mentors, and assists in providing direction to other team members.
- Formulates and evaluates accounting processes to ensure proper control, adherence to GAAP requirements, and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Ensures the integrity of financial transactions with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Support accounting processes by leading and providing guidance in the management and prioritization of business requirements, system enhancements, and/or accounting standards.
- Ensure standard business processes are followed across multiple accounting functions.
- Ensures successful completion of internal and external audits.
- Ensure proper execution of controls and performance, documentation, and retention in accordance with accounting policy.
▪ Bachelor’s degree in accounting
▪ CPA required ▪ 10 years of experience preferred
