About PwC SATIC and the role
PwC’s South African Technology & Innovation Centre (SATIC) delivers critical support to global PwC teams, including the UK Independence team. The SATIC Personal Independence Associate is integral to safeguarding PwC’s reputation and regulatory compliance by reviewing personal financial interests of UK partners and directors. This role ensures that investments and financial relationships logged in the Checkpoint system comply with strict independence requirements, enabling PwC to maintain trust and uphold audit quality.
Summary:
As a Personal Independence Associate, you will work virtually with the PwC UK Independence team, reviewing and assessing investments and financial interests submitted by UK partners and directors via the Checkpoint platform. Your primary responsibility is to determine whether these interests are permitted under PwC’s independence policies and relevant regulatory frameworks. You will play a key role in protecting the firm’s independence, supporting audit quality, and enabling business growth in a highly regulated environment.
Qualifications / Certifications required:
University degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance, Law, Business, or a related field
Experience required:
•Experience in a compliance, risk management, audit, or regulatory review role.
•Exposure to reviewing financial interests, investments, or personal holdings for regulatory compliance.
•Familiarity with independence requirements in a professional services or audit environment is preferred.
•Experience working in a fast-paced, detail-oriented team, ideally with virtual collaboration across geographies.
•Prior use of compliance systems is beneficial but not required.
Responsibilities of role:
•Review investments and financial interests from PwC UK partners and directors.
•Assess whether reported interests comply with PwC’s independence policies and relevant regulatory standards.
•Provide clear, accurate guidance to UK stakeholders regarding permitted and prohibited interests.
•Maintain up-to-date records and documentation of reviews and decisions.
•Liaise with the UK Independence team and other stakeholders to resolve queries and escalate complex cases.
•Support continuous improvement of review processes and contribute to team knowledge sharing.
•Participate in ad-hoc projects and regulatory updates as required.
