Job Description:
This job is responsible for assisting with the qualitative and quantitative analysis of a high-risk/criticized or distressed commercial clients. Key responsibilities include supporting Special Assets Group Portfolio Officers in developing and executing resolution strategies focused on reducing the volatility and severity of losses in the portfolio. Job expectations include strict adherence to all bank policies and regulatory requirements, proactive identification and mitigation of risks within the portfolio, and maintaining high standards of integrity and ethics standards in all interactions.

The Special Asset Group (SAG) manages the Bank’s criticized, classified, and distressed commercial credit portfolio. SAG's primary objective is to maximize recoveries, minimize loss severity, and execute effective resolution strategies that protect the Bank's interests while preserving long-term enterprise value where appropriate.

The SAG Financial Analyst plays a critical role in supporting SAG Portfolio Officers in the management of assigned credits. The analyst provides comprehensive financial, credit, and portfolio support to evaluate borrower performance, identify emerging risks, and contribute to the development and execution of resolution strategies.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts qualitative and quantitative analysis of high-risk/criticized or distressed commercial clients for Special Assets Group Portfolio Officers
  • Supports adversarial collection actions such as litigation, foreclosures, bankruptcies, and receiverships
  • Adheres to bank policies and regulatory standards contributing to compliance initiatives
  • Supports the asset quality process of the portfolio through effective risk management practices and periodic portfolio reviews
  • Assists with maintaining and establishing collaborative partnerships with stakeholders
  • Perform financial, credit, and risk analysis for an assigned portfolio of criticized, classified, and distressed commercial credit relationships, ensuring adherence to applicable policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Evaluate borrower financial performance, repayment capacity, collateral positions, and risk trends to identify emerging credit issues and support portfolio management activities.
  • Assist in the assessment and recommendation of internal risk ratings and monitor changes throughout the credit life cycle.
  • Prepare financial spreads, covenant analyses, borrower reviews, portfolio reporting, and other credit-related analyses to support SAG Portfolio Officer decision-making.
  • Support the development and execution of credit resolution strategies through financial analysis, industry research, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Develop an understanding of the Bank's products, credit processes, and portfolio dynamics to assess risk and support effective resolution outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have experience in commercial banking, credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, workout, restructuring, or a related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and commercial lending principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess financial performance and identify key risk factors.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across teams and organizational levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work in a fast-paced environment, and meet established deadlines.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience analyzing commercial borrowers, preparing credit underwriting packages, or supporting portfolio management activities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, including experience building, maintaining, and analyzing financial models.
  • Understanding of commercial workout, restructuring, special assets, or distressed credit management.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and ability to collaborate with business partners across Risk, Legal, Operations, and other support functions.
  • Self-motivated learner with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and business needs.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking regulations, credit policies, and risk management practices.
  • Completion of relevant banking, accounting, or credit training programs, internships, or certifications.

Pay and benefits information

Pay range

$86,800.00 - $93,800.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan. Employees are eligible for an annual discretionary award based on their overall individual performance results and behaviors, the performance and contributions of their line of business and/or group; and the overall success of the Company.
