Job Summary:
The Manager, Financial Control is a key role within the Financial Performance & Control team, which brings together financial control, management reporting, performance insight and finance business partnering activity across PwC Channel Islands.
The role will also work closely with Finance Business Partners, members of the Client Delivery Support team, and wider business stakeholders to ensure that accurate, timely and well-controlled financial information supports both statutory and management reporting, business performance review and decision making across the firm.
As the Financial Performance & Control team embeds its combined operating model, the role will help strengthen alignment between financial control and business performance insight, ensuring that reporting, analysis, governance and controls operate as one coherent finance service.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include:
• Financial Control & Reporting
▪ Manage the delivery of month end and year end close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of financial outputs.
▪ Manage the preparation of statutory financial statements and supporting disclosures.
▪ Act as the primary day-to-day contact for external audit activity, coordinating requests and ensuring timely delivery of audit requests.
▪ Maintain ownership of balance sheet governance, ensuring reconciliations are completed, reviewed and appropriately evidenced.
▪ Ensure adherence to accounting standards, firm accounting policies, and technical accounting requirements.
▪ Support regulatory reporting obligations through accurate and timely submissions.
▪ Maintain a strong financial control framework, ensuring appropriate governance, documentation and control evidence.
• Financial Performance, Insight & Management Reporting
▪ Support the delivery of accurate, timely and insightful management reporting for Finance leadership, the business and senior stakeholders.
▪ Prepare and review analysis of financial performance, key balance sheet movements and other finance metrics to explain business performance and support decision making.
▪ Work with Finance Business Partners to ensure that management reporting, statutory reporting and business performance insight are aligned and based on consistent financial data.
▪ Support the combined Financial Performance & Control operating model by connecting control outputs with commercial insight, planning activity and performance review.
▪ Identify financial trends, risks and opportunities arising from reporting and control activities, escalating matters clearly and constructively.
•Finance Operations & Service Delivery Oversight
▪ Provide Financial Control oversight across Finance Operations, including outsourced accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
▪ Monitor service performance, controls and operational effectiveness across delivery teams and service centres.
▪ Manage cash and treasury related processes, including covenant monitoring and reporting.
▪ Ensure finance processes are documented, controlled and consistently applied.
▪ Work with SDC and other delivery teams to ensure timely, accurate and complete delivery of finance outputs.
•Stakeholder Management
▪ Build effective working relationships across Finance and the wider business.
▪ Provide guidance on financial control, accounting and reporting matters.
▪ Work collaboratively with Finance Business Partners to support business facing conversations with robust, well controlled financial information.
▪ Escalate complex technical accounting matters, significant control issues and key risks to the Head of Financial Performance & Control as appropriate.
▪ Support the Head of Financial Performance & Control in preparing information for governance forums, leadership meetings and external stakeholders.
Leadership, Oversight & Quality Assurance
▪ Provide technical guidance, quality assurance and day-to-day coordination across Financial Control activities.
▪ Coordinate activity delivered through shared service, outsourced and offshore resources, ensuring outputs are complete, accurate and delivered to agreed deadlines.
▪ Review key reconciliations, reporting outputs and control evidence prepared by colleagues and delivery teams.
▪ Ensure responsibilities, deadlines and service levels are clearly understood and achieved across relevant Finance Operations processes.
▪ Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement and high-quality delivery across the Financial Performance & Control operating model.
• Innovation & Transformation Support
▪ Identify and implement opportunities to strengthen financial controls, improve efficiency and enhance reporting quality.
▪ Support delivery of finance transformation initiatives and system enhancements.
▪ Assist in embedding new processes and controls arising from change programmes.
▪ Contribute to the ongoing development of a scalable and sustainable Financial Performance & Control operating model.

Qualifications & Certifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related field.
• Fully qualified accountant with a recognised UK professional designation.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in finance, with post qualification experience in financial control, reporting, management reporting or a related finance role.

• Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Experience operating within a controlled, regulated or professional services environment.
• Experience providing technical guidance, quality review, coaching or day-to-day coordination across colleagues, shared service teams or outsourced delivery resources.

• Experience within regulated, partnership based, or professional services environments.
• Exposure to finance system upgrades or process change initiatives (e.g. ERP, procurement or accounts payable systems).

Travel Requirements:
Travel between the Channel Islands is expected. Occasional travel to the UK and Operation Centres in Europe may be required.
