# Overview

This role is part of the 1st Line of Defence Risk and Control team, supporting the 1st line Regulation Lead on management and oversight of compliance with the UK and EU Markets in Financial Instruments Regulation and Directive (MiFID/R).

We are looking for an experienced MiFID II and MiFIR Subject Matter Expert with deep knowledge of transaction reporting, transparency and regulatory reporting requirements and control frameworks. The successful candidate will bring extensive experience overseeing regulatory reporting remediation, control enhancement and regulatory change programs across large global investment banks. They should demonstrate strong regulatory interpretation skills, the ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business and technology solutions, and experience engaging with senior stakeholders, regulators and control functions to drive sustainable compliance outcomes. This role requires a combination of regulatory expertise, business analysis, program delivery and risk management capabilities.

This will require extensive coordination with internal stakeholders across businesses and functions to support and meet required standards by the MiFID/R regulations in relevant jurisdictions. This program covers all Citi businesses (Markets, Banking, Services and Wealth).

# Responsibilities

  • Lead MiFID/R specific control enhancement projects and remediation items. Design targeted assessments for further enhancement opportunities.
  • Serve as the primary SME for MiFIR transaction reporting and transparency obligations, providing guidance on interpretation and implementation across relevant businesses and functions.
  • Act as an SME advisor on regulatory reporting controls, supporting the design, enhancement and ongoing monitoring of controls related to reporting completeness, accuracy, timeliness, reconciliations and issue management.
  • Oversee remediation of reporting deficiencies, including root-cause analysis, corrective action plans and sustainable control design.
  • Partner with Operations, Technology, Compliance and Front Office stakeholders to implement regulatory reporting enhancements or change, and strategic solutions.
  • Provide SME support for regulatory interactions, including enquiries from UK and EU regulators, remediation commitments and reporting issue disclosures.
  • Lead impact assessments for regulatory developments affecting MiFID II/MiFIR reporting and transparency obligations.

# Qualifications & Skills

  • Extensive experience in Financial Services, with consulting, business management, business risk, regulatory reporting and/or advisory compliance experience.
  • Extensive experience as a MiFID II/MiFIR regulatory reporting SME, with particular expertise in transaction reporting, transparency regimes, regulatory reporting controls and reporting remediation.
  • Demonstrable experience leading MiFID II/MiFIR implementation, remediation or control framework enhancement programmes within Tier 1 investment banks.
  • Strong understanding of MiFIR transaction reporting operating models, regulatory reporting data flows, critical data elements and end-to-end trading lifecycle impacts.
  • Experience designing and implementing regulatory reporting control frameworks, including governance, reconciliations, testing, management information and issue management processes.
  • Proven ability to perform detailed business and data analysis, partnering with Operations and Technology teams to deliver strategic regulatory reporting solutions.
  • Experience managing regulatory remediation programmes and supporting interactions with regulatory authorities regarding reporting issue.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills across Front Office, Operations, Technology, Compliance, Legal and Internal Audit functions.
