Overview
Job Purpose
This role is responsible for auditing and evaluating mortgage loan files to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory, investor, and rating agency requirements. The Compliance Analyst examines loan documentation against program guidelines, identifies and documents exceptions or deviations, and validates data discrepancies flagged by compliance analysts. Additional responsibilities include reviewing incoming trailing documents and client/seller rebuttals, managing workload assignments directed by a Team Lead, and meeting defined production standards.
Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate audits of mortgage loan files, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory compliance, investor requirements, and rating agency requirements, when applicable.
- Ensure that all loan reviews comply with program guidelines, identifying and documenting any deviations or exceptions.
- Review and update any exceptions, providing relevant facts to support the findings made by the compliance analyst.
- Verify and confirm any data discrepancies identified by the compliance analyst.
- Review incoming trailing documents or rebuttals submitted by the client and/or seller.
- Work loan assignments based on the instructions from the project Team Lead/Business Analyst.
- Meet the minimum production standards as communicated by the project Team Lead.
- Monitor all communication channels (Outlook, Teams, Phone) for company updates/announcements and requests from your colleagues/Team Lead.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.
Knowledge and Experience
- 7+ years due diligence and regulatory compliance experience.
- Proven working knowledge of all current mortgage compliance requirements including but not limited to RESPA, TILA, TRID, ATR/QM, Dodd/Frank and all other applicable State and Federal regulatory requirements.
- Extensive experience with computer programs used for mortgage loan reviews, along with a solid understanding of the Microsoft Office suite
- Understanding of Rating Agency criteria and grading as it pertains to RMBS reviews.
- Ability to manage time and priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate consistent attention to detail.
- Strong verbal & written communication skills.
