Overview:

SageSure, a leader in catastrophe-exposed property insurance, needs a skilled Assistant Underwriter to thrive at our fast-growing company. Qualified candidates for this position will enhance their decision-making skills every day.
This role will be onsite for a minimum of 3 days a week in our Tampa, FL office.
What you’d be doing:
- Supports Underwriters by performing various data collection and file preparation work. Preview and prepare SOV (statement of values) and successfully ingest it into the system for Underwriting review and pricing.
- Pursues missing information from applications, endorsements, and other written correspondence by contacting brokers, agents, and customers for resolution.
- Underwrites endorsement, reinstatement, and cancellation transactions, all within prescribed authority levels.
- Process underwriting endorsements within underwriting authority.
- Analyze data (year build, square footage, win mitigation forms, loss runs, and appraisals) and prepare recommendations for Underwriters.
- Orders and manages inspection requests to ensure all are received and returned. Screens inspections for UW to ensure nothing is uncovered in the inspection that would change the risk's acceptability or price point.
- Performs data entry of insurance requests within underwriting authority.
- Takes agent calls, answers, and resolves service-related questions.
- Conducts policy reviews, ensuring compliance with underwriting rules, policies, practices, and procedures.
- Works independently and exercises judgment in selecting and interpreting data and prioritization of work.
- May update the underwriting system.
- Works with Compliance on responses to DOI complaints made by the insured.
- Requests underwriting and state-mandated requirements based on guidelines.
- May perform other related duties and special projects as assigned or requested.
We’re looking for someone who has:
- High School Diploma or equivalent minimum
- A minimum of 2 years of Property-Casualty insurance with underwriting support experience is preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Excel and other company systems.
- Ability to work in a team environment essential.
- Proven organizational skills and ability with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Interest in continued education and professional development to obtain full underwriting authority.
- Knowledge of policy processing and documentation.
- Knowledge of applicable insurance products, standard business policies, practices, and procedures.
- General understanding of basic analytical and financial techniques.
- Maintains an understanding and adheres to state-specific statutes involving underwriting, applicable insurance laws, and regulations.
- Works well with management and co-workers.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Highly preferred candidates also have:
- Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree
- Experience specifically in the Commercial Lines Excess & Surplus insurance space
- Prior Customer Service experience
