Position Purpose:
The Staff Software Engineer is responsible for leading a team of engineers building and designing a product that our customers and associates love. As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic team with engineers of all experience levels who help each other build and grow technical and leadership skills while creating, deploying, and supporting production applications. In addition, Staff Software Engineers will assist in product and tool selection, configuration, security, resilience, performance tuning and production monitoring.
Staff Software Engineers contribute to foundational code elements that can be reused as well as architectural diagrams and other product-related documentation.
As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be a core player on the product team and are expected to build and grow the skillsets of the more junior Engineers.

Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven experience designing, developing, and supporting scalable enterprise applications in a modern cloud environment.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging Artificial Intelligence (AI), Generative AI, and Large Language Models (LLMs) to solve business problems, enhance user experiences, improve developer productivity, and accelerate software delivery. Experience building AI-powered features, integrating AI services into applications, utilizing AI-assisted development tools, and driving AI adoption across engineering teams is highly preferred.
- Strong front-end development experience, including UI design and development using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue, with a focus on delivering intuitive, responsive, and accessible user experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to balance front-end and back-end development responsibilities, with an approximate focus of 30% front-end and 70% back-end development.
- Strong back-end development experience using object-oriented programming languages, preferably Java, including building APIs, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Experience designing, developing, and optimizing applications using both relational and NoSQL database technologies.
- Experience implementing authentication, authorization, and security best practices using modern identity and access management frameworks.
- Experience creating and executing comprehensive testing strategies, including unit, integration, functional, performance, and automated testing.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with experience in debugging, root cause analysis, monitoring, and resolving complex production issues.
- Experience with Git or other version control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience designing highly available, resilient, secure, and scalable systems with a focus on performance optimization, disaster recovery, and operational excellence.
- Experience modernizing legacy applications through refactoring, architecture improvements, cloud migration initiatives, and adoption of modern engineering practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and a strong understanding of modern software design patterns and engineering best practices.
- Exposure to technical roadmap planning, work estimation, architectural decision-making, and influencing technical direction across teams.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to partner effectively across Product, UX, Architecture, Security, and Engineering teams to deliver innovative business solutions.
