Job Overview
For several decades, Georgetown University’s Counseling and Psychiatric Service (CAPS) has served as a vital training site for emerging psychologists, offering both part-time practicum experiences and full-time postdoctoral fellowship positions. These postdoctoral positions (known as Psychology Postdoctoral Fellows, CAPS – Georgetown University) provide advanced clinical training for recent doctoral graduates, enhancing the department’s ability to meet the mental health needs of a diverse and dynamic student body.
These positions are essential to the clinical and outreach functions of CAPS and are a critical component of the University’s overall safety net for students. Their work contributes meaningfully to student wellbeing, retention, academic success, and, in some cases, saving lives through crisis intervention and suicide prevention efforts.
There are four CAPS Psychology Postdoctoral Fellow positions in total: two are based on the Hilltop campus, one is located at the Law Center, and one is embedded within Athletics. This position description pertains to the Athletics position, which is embedded within Athletics and primarily serves Georgetown student-athletes. This fellow provides clinical services, outreach programming, and consultation tailored to the unique experiences of student-athletes, including work with individual athletes, teams, coaches, and athletic department staff.
