SRPMIC – Health & Human Services – Behavioral Health Services is seeking an experienced Intake Counselor to join a dynamic and supportive team dedicated to serving the SRPMIC community.

Who are we? 

The Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC) is a sovereign tribe located in the metropolitan Phoenix area. Bounded by the cities of Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, and Fountain Hills, the Community serves over 11,000 tribal members, and all people conduct business over approximately 96 square miles of residential, agricultural, and commercial lands, as a full-service government entity. 

Salary Ranges

  • Behavioral Health Counselor I – license eligible – $62,007 to 83,706 (Annually)
  • Behavioral Health Counselor II – Associate Level Licensure – $68,450 to 92,407 (Annually)
  • Behavioral Health Counselor III – Independent Level Licensure – $71,866 to 97,015 (Annually)

The Intake Counselor must be highly adaptable, able to adjust quickly to changing client needs and fluctuating daily workflows and be comfortable engaging with individuals who present a wide range of behavioral health concerns.

Candidates should be organized, flexible, clinically skilled, and committed to supporting the wellbeing of the SRPMIC community through compassionate engagement, collaboration, and high-quality service delivery.

What does the job look like?

This position requires the ability to conduct thorough clinical assessments and screenings, apply strong clinical reasoning to identify needs, risks, and appropriate levels of care. Develop individualized treatment plans that support client goals and available resources.

Effective coordination of care within the department and with community stakeholders is essential to ensuring continuity and cultural responsiveness.

What do you need?

  • Master’s degree in counseling, Social Work, or related behavioral health field.
  • Arizona licensure or eligibility (LAC, LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT).
  • Strong communication, documentation, and organization skills.

  • May be required to work beyond normal work hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Present valid BLS certificate prior to first day of patient care.
