Position Title: Scaffold Builder 1 - Carpenter (uncertified journey-level) 

Position Reports To: Foreman 

 

Position Summary 

A Scaffold Builder 1 - Carpenter (uncertified journey-level) is responsible for directing personnel in the safe execution of the site specific scope of work items outlined in the contract documents. Builder B is also responsible for all associated paperwork and documentation as described in the Apache manuals and programs that apply. 

 

Essential Functions 

  • Ensure that work is being performed in a manner that is consistent with Apache, client, and regulatory requirements.  

  • Follow directions of Scaffolding Foreman to understand the scope of work and bring to their attention any potential problems and issues.     

  • Follow verbal directions as required to perform duties and responsibilities as listed below.    

  • Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.    

  • Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb.    

  • Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time.   

  • Clean up of work area, supplies, materials, and equipment.   

  • Communicate regularly with the Field Foreman with regard to issues and concerns on the job site.   

  • Responsible for ensuring that work continues in the Foreman’s absence.   

  • Comply with all Apache and client safety policies and programs.   

  • Maintain a reliable attendance records  

  • Always maintains a clean and safe work environment  

  • Work unsupervised in an efficient and effective manner.  

  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

Education & Experience 

  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a Carpenter in the scaffolding industry. 

  • Minimum 1 year experience with Apache. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Follow instructions with regard to general construction tasks. 

  • Work in an efficient and effective manner 

  • Able to give clear and concise instructions to multiple employees in the execution of work. 

  • Possess the ability to maintain basic field equipment such as air compressors, man lifts, forklifts and etcetera. 

  • Ability to interpret erection drawings. 

  • Ensure that EVERY individual scaffold component is thoroughly inspected to verify good condition and integrity. Any defect encountered will require removal of services. 

  • Ensure that all scaffolds are erected/dismantled in accordance with industry standards and manufacturer, OSHA, Apache and client’s recommendations/requirements 

  • Ensure that completed scaffolds are thoroughly inspected prior to tagging. 

  • Update scaffold-tags at the beginning of each shift, or more frequently if required. 

  • Ensuring good housekeeping is being performed throughout the entire project - inside & outside 

  • Must maintain a positive attitude with crew members. 

 

Work Conditions/Physical Demands 

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.  

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds. 

  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
