POSITION SCOPE:
This position reports to the Quality Assurance Manager and has overall responsibilities for managing the laboratory and audit function of the facility Quality Assurance Department. These responsibilities include assisting in the maintenance of plant quality systems in a multi-customer environment.
Given the workforce at the facility, bilingual English/Spanish communication skills are required.

essential accountabilities:
- ð Hire, train and supervise QA Inspectors and lab technicians.
- ð Develop and maintain audit and testing programs to comply with customer and BelPak quality requirements.
- ð Identification and isolation of out of specification material including maintenance of the hold documentation and hold areas.
- ð Assist plant management during start-ups, test runs or special projects.
- Maintenance of plant pest control programs.
- Maintenance of plant environmental monitoring program.
- Perform (at least monthly) GMP and sanitation inspections and assist plant management with corrective action plans and required documentation.
- Monitor sanitation preoperative inspection programs.
- Maintenance of plant start-up sheet information.
- Monitor plant positive release program and documentation.
- Oversee purchase of lab equipment and supplies.
- Assist with plant document control programs including specifications, formulations and internal QA forms.
- Training programs for lab technicians and line auditors.
- Assist with customer quality contact communication.
- Assist with plant audits and inspections.
- Assist with plant reports.
- Monitor food safety plan verification activities.
- Monitor incoming material test/acceptance programs and requirements.
- Perform training and self-assessment activities as directed in the quarterly Quality Activity Calendar and submit quarterly summaries to corporate QA as directed.

Qualifications:
ð Minimum of three years of experience in food industry quality systems, preferably with major food company.
ð Strong coð B.A. or B.S. degree, preferably in a technical field.
ð Willingness to support internal and external customers by responding to their needs with the appropriate sense of urgency.

· Must enforce all safety procedures and GMP’s.
· Works shift work and must be willing to work overtime, alternate shifts, weekends, handle training schedules to accommodate other employees and order requirements.
· Must wear safety equipment and hairnets as prescribed when performing functions outside the office environment.
· GMP procedures must be followed and enforced on the production area.
· Bilingual due to the workforce (English, Spanish)
